This is a wonderful book and I loved learning about some exceptional women in Ireland’s history. I especially loved the page at the end with women who are going places right now. We might only be a small island but it’s important to remember that we have done great things in the past, and have a lot to offer now as well.
I was disappointed though with the inclusion of Dr James Barry in it. It is wildly accepted that he was a man and therefore should not have been included in a book of great women.

Last year I read Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls and I loved it so much I immediately went out and bought more copies as Christmas gifts!
So this year when I saw that @obrienpress were publishing a compendium of trail blazing Irish women, I knew I had to read it and share it with all of you!
This book is so powerfully inspirational that I actually found myself getting emotional when reading about women striving and succeeding in this "man's world".
I loved reading about Ireland's first female president being elected almost 30 years ago and I especially loved reading more about how the first woman to be elected to the British House of Commons was an Irish woman!
For an island with a population of fewer than 7 million people, Mná na hÉireann truly are trail blazers!
Thank you so much @obrienpress for sending me this free copy of Blazing a Trail, Irish Women who Changed the World.
