Supernova was an excellent conclusion to the Renegades trilogy. It had twists and turns that allowed the characters to change and grow to their “final form,” so to speak. One of the aspects of Supernova, in particular, was how the pacing matched its previous installments, but seemed slower and more philosophical.

Renegades was the iconic superhero book with action and a twinge of romance. Archenemies dove into the complexities of Nova’s newfound emotions and her changing perception of what was good and what was evil. Supernova is a question of morality, leaders in society, and what happens when power passes between hands. I noticed that there were multiple instances where someone was having a monologue of sorts that questioned power. I didn’t mind the monologues — they made me review my own perceptions of good and evil — but they made the pace slow down while adding value to it.

This is just a matter of preference -of-genre, but I wish that there had been more personal or intimate moments between Adrian and Nova. Alongside the battle scenes, a resolution of their romantic subplot — continuous or stopped — could’ve given readers a better sense of finalization and cleared space for the depth of the fight scenes.

All in all, Supernova gets a 5/5 star rating because of how it sums up not only its own story, but the Renegades trilogy as a whole. I liked how it toed the line between good and evil, the powerful and the powerless; and how it kept the different plots in line.

Loved it. It is so cool! Great way to end the trilogy.
Edit: It’s been months since I finished this and man I didn’t do justice to this review. I still remember the characters and main plot points because I developed such deep connection to this series. The romance and the characters were such beautifully written. I liked everything except the ending I just felt like instead of
everyone getting their powers back and Max being powerless. The author should have made everyone not have any powers to showcase that people can be their own hero without any special abilities.
. I thought it would have ended the story perfectly with setting the power imbalance less noticeable. I felt like that would be the perfect end to the trilogy, since it would fix corrupt and imperfect details in society. But then again I am not the author and I respect Marissa Meyer’s choice, and honestly think that the book turned out regardless of the society coming back to normal. I ship the main characters so much. And the plot twist at the end was so impactful, I honestly would give this book 6/5 just for that plot twist alone. The book was very addicting and filled with so many action scenes, I could never put it down. Honestly, one of my favorite books. and the world building is other-worldly. I would recommend and 107%.

This was a really good ending to the Renegades series! I don’t think it was quite as good as the other two books but it still was wonderful. The three little twists at the end were interesting but did not leave me in complete shock like some of the other twists.
I also found it interesting how Meyer used the same twist for ace and magpie, the actually-not-dead twist. I also wondered if the three twists (evie being magpie, phobia being adrian's creation and ace being evil) were intended from the start of the series. They felt kind of thought of at the last minute but that doesn't diminish their impact! They were great twists! However I didn’t like the ending how everyone got powers, i thought it would be better if no one got their powers back.
. This book was also quite gory with in depth description of mutilation and self mutilation, murder and other dark themes. I really enjoyed this book and read it on a single day, Feb 13th.

Ok, so i loved this book series from start to finish, however, i don’t like how meyer wrote the epilogue. the ending of the plot itself was fitting and satisfactory, but when i read the epilogue it dipped my mood a bit? to put it simply without spoilers, meyer wrote a position which contradicted the entire lesson taught throughout three books. I could see it as a “this character is young, some people will always view the world this way” type thing, but to me it didn’t feel that way.

Either way, that’s simply me being nit picky.

Otherwise, this series was absolutely amazing from start to finish. though a bit hectic at times, i loved the world building, message and characters. Definitely would recommend this to any YA fan.

(note: the 4 stars isn’t for the epilogue!! the missing star mostly came from the slight back-and-forth-ness confusion of the third book)
