Precioso.
Precioso libro de relatos sobre mujeres increíbles de todo el mundo. Elena Favilli me ha presentado a muchas mujeres que no conocía de nada, y a muchas otras que sí conocía y no me canso de oír hablar de sus hazañas.
Cada relato va acompañado de una ilustración única. En este libro interviene más de un/a ilustrador/a, de hecho todos los relatos tienen su propia ilustración a color, en sepia, en blanco y negro... precioso.
La edición de este libro es muy bonita, así como su contenido. Me ha encantado, si bien no es muy complejo ni tiene una trama seguida, se trata de relatos cortos que se pueden leer como lectura ligera o a trozos. No puedo no recomendar este libro a todas las jóvenes mujeres que todavía no conocen a las luchadoras que describe. Así como lo recomiendo a absolutamente cualquier persona, indistintamente por su edad y género. Es un libro que debería aparecer a partes en los libros de lenguas de la escuela primaria y secundaria.

A part certains portraits que je questionne (Margaret Thatcher ?), je trouve ce livre parfait pour parler de femmes aux destins extraordinaires, à des petites filles qui pourront s’en inspirer pour grandir et ne pas se laisser faire dans un monde encore trop dominé par les hommes. L’objet en soi est sublime, pour seulement 20€ c’est criminel de se retenir de l’acheter ! Les illustrations sont à couper le souffle, elles sont dans des styles très différents aussi ce qui permet également d’éveiller à l’art. Bref, bon bouquin, je recommande.
This was overall a pretty good book, but I think I'll stick with the adult versions from now on because it was definitely a little bit too simplistic for me. Still, I like that this book included more modern women and also a lot of younger girls who are still teenagers but have already done amazing things. I think that's great for a book specifically aimed at young girls since it shows they don't have to wait til they grow up to be awesome.
I did have some problems with a few of the entries; Coco Chanel was literally a Nazi and Margaret Thatcher was ...just ugh. At least with Thatcher they kind of glossed over that she wasn't always that great, but I think that unless you're going to go in-depth with the whole 'sometimes powerful women can also be awful even if they're breaking boundaries' thing - which was honestly a bit too complex for the tone of this book - then you should really leave people like that out.

Die Idee ist toll. Die Illustrationen sind wunderschön. Aber die Gutenachtgeschichtifizierung von Biografien hinterlässt ihre Spuren. Bei einigen Frauen, mit deren Leben und Wirken ich mich vertraut fühlte, hatte ich öfter das Gefühl, dass die Geschichten merkwürdige Schwerpunkte legten. Beispiel Margaret Thatcher: "Als sie den Krieg gegen Argentinien um die Falklandinslen gewann, bewunderten viele sie für ihre Stärke und Entschlusskraft." Äh ja, und genausoviele waren der Meinung, dass sie einen sinnlosen Krieg ausgefochten hatte, ganz zu schweigen davon, dass sie anschließend den Sozialstaat eines ganzen Landes in Schutt und Asche legte. Ich weiß auch nicht, wie schön Virginia Woolf es finden würde, dass sie hauptsächlich auf ihre Depression reduziert wird. Wenn das schon bei den Frauen der Fall ist, die mir bekannt waren, frage ich mich: Welche Lücken/Umdeutungen existieren dann bei denen, die ich nicht kenne? Ist Yaa Asentewa wirklich für ihre "Tapferkeit" zu bewundern, die der Geschichte nach hauptsächlich darin bestand, einen aussichtslosen Kampf zu kämpfen, bei dem tausende Menschen starben? Warum wird Ruth Haarkness als "Tierschützerin" bezeichnet, wenn ihr Lebenswerk anscheinend darin bestand, einen Panda aus der Wildnis zu kidnappen? Auf die Gefahr, Menschenleben auf sehr simple Heldinnengeschichten zu reduzieren, wird im Buch nirgends hingewiesen. Als Inspiration für Mädchen taugt das Buch bestimmt trotzdem - aber mit meiner Tochter würde ich auf jeden Fall im Anschluss über die Geschichten sprechen und sie dazu anregen, mehr über die Personen herauszufinden. (Meine Frau und ich haben das Buch einander während der Schwangerschaft vorgelesen.)

a tiny bit idealistic at times but it covers a huge range of women from across the world, many i'd never heard of, and tells their story in very simplistic terms. yeah, it's primarily aimed at children but i learned a lot. plus, it's very beautiful.

Reminds me of "Women in Science: 50 Fearless Pioneers Who Changed the World". Here we get 100 short stories about famous women, not just scientists.
I read the audiobook, and often missed the pictures, so if you read it, go full picture mode. Some of the stories were very short, so they're probably better suited for younger kids. I'd love to read the short biographies to kids or let them read the stories themselves.
