Continuing my Animorphs reread, I'm definitely seeing myself liking Rachel more this time around. I love that her voice is different from Jake's, but that we still lead off with the two most headstrong Animorphs - yet we see that Rachel's strength is in her caring. Excited to watch how she evolves as the series goes on.
A good volume building off of the first. I was a little bothered by how little Tobias cared about his predicament, and their plan seemed a little flimsy. Regardless, I was satisfied by the climax.

I do love how interesting and magical this series is, it was cool to see Rachel’s perspective this time. This book humanised the fallout from the invasion, focusing just on Melissa’s family and how it affects those not aware. Again, all the action is packed into the very end of the book, but I was entertained throughout. Rachel as the shrew was cool.
I do wonder though, since Tobias is now stuck as a hawk, what do his parents think? Is he presumed missing, dead? Like what’s the deal with that?
