I really have to wonder ... was Young Me as horrified by this alien invasion as Adult Me currently is? Because I certainly don't remember this series being so scary. I mean, the whole slugs-in-the-brain thing has always stuck with me, but c'mon - Visser Three turning into monsters and torturing people? How do I not remember this?
All that aside (seriously, Young Me, how were you not freaked out by the entire thing?), I don't think The Visitor quite matched what [b:The Invasion|776877|The Invasion (Animorphs, #1)|K.A. Applegate|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1456853880l/776877._SX50_.jpg|356806] was able to do when it first introduced us to the Animorphs. I wasn't engaged with the first part of this book, though I was reading wide-eyed by the time we got to Visser Three making another appearance. This series shines more in the action rather than standing around talking.
I do wish there was more character development, though that's Adult Me reading a middle grade series rather than Young Me just enjoying the heck out of it. Nonetheless, I think this series would still pique the interest of kids today, even if they would wonder why nobody is texting each other to communicate quickly.

I love to see that Rachel is reckless as always, but with a heart of gold. I wonder how that'll turn out. It's funny that we don't ever see her motive for joining the fight ever again after this. Maybe it's inconsisten writing? Who knows?

this was mainly a filler book in the series so i can’t say too much about it. but i did enjoy seeing how Rachel grew and we got to see a more nuisance side of a side character. this book did make me more emotional than the last one but it’s getting a lower rating bc some parts were a bit rushed.
