this was mainly a filler book in the series so i can’t say too much about it. but i did enjoy seeing how Rachel grew and we got to see a more nuisance side of a side character. this book did make me more emotional than the last one but it’s getting a lower rating bc some parts were a bit rushed.

Re-Reading this classic from my childhood is still such a treat. There were some truly devastating moments, which are the ones I live for in this series. The scene where Melissa’s mom and dad are fighting the Yeerks in their heads when they’re supposed to bring her to Visser 3. The way Rachel stays with Melissa to comfort her in cat form. The character growth of Rachel confronting the fact that she’d been a bad friend to Melissa as she was dealing with her new morphing powers. The ending felt rushed and there were a lot of moments when I genuinely had no idea what action exactly was being described. But a really solid book in the series, as always.
