The nostalgia is real.

(also, I googled and apparently binge-reading these books is a fairly common thing for the millenials who grew up on them, so I feel a bit validated in putting down the poli-sci, history and good literature I typically gravitate to in favor of these.)

These books really live up! I'm so enjoying my journey through them again and was worried that childhood nostalgia may have painted them as better than they were. Nope! 2 books in and it's been a joy the whole way through!

Made me cry real tears, so gets a higher rating than book 1. Loved Rachel's POV and the tragic elements of this book.

1) The Invasion ★★★★

Rachel is my favourite protagonist of this entire series tbh
adventurous medium-paced

Does a great job of establishing the emotional stakes for Rachel, and introduces her recklessness and connection with Tobias.

The nostalgia is strong. Also, this cover art is about a thousand times better than Jake's in book 1.

I love how each of the Animorphs have their own personality and skills, and in this one we see how fearless (and a little reckless) Rachel is as she morphs into a cat to spy on her vice Principal.

This is a good book in the series because we learn more about the Yeerks and Visser Three's personality, as well as see a personal side to the devastation that the Yeerk invasion is causing. I'm enjoying these fast reads and look forward to the next one!
