This one is Rachel's first POV book, and their mission is to infiltrate the house of their assistant principal, Mr. Chapman, in the hopes of learning more of the Yeerks. It's kinda crazy how much I enjoyed this too. The group is becoming more comfortable with morphing, and it's starting to become real just how big this is. Yhis also felt very intimate to Rachel because she wants to help this principal's daughter (former best friend) so badly. The action is fast-paced, and Visser Three sounds horrifying. Still having a blast xD

3.5 stars. I didn't like this one as much as the first but still really good.

I thought this was a boring one when I was a kid and always skipped it when rereading. It is inarguably a lot slower than book 1 and involves a lot of running around like a bunch of idiots because that's what they are, currently. However! The character moments are really quite interesting. Rachel being uncertain and deciding that bravado is the way to go....and we see where that ends up. Visser Three's leading-by-fear and how it cuts his own investigation off at the knees because his subordinates are too scared to be honest with him, which will continue for the entire war. And of course, Jake's first flexings of his leadership role to shut down Marco when he goes too far with a comment and to follow Rachel in to the house as a flea. They're not a team yet, but the roles are starting to solidify.
