I love this book! I devoured it in 2 days. I usually read genres like crime and thriller but for some reason this book fell into my hands in the bookshop. It's a mysterious book with many sub plots that somewhat come together in the end. At the beginning I was a bit confused as to what is happening when, what is in the past and what in the present, but you get the hang of it quite fast. I read it in German and it was wonderfully translated. Although it has elements of a thriller, it is a novel and it is not about finding out who did what. There are a lot of things left open but somehow it suits the book.
For me it was something different and it was really great.

The readers' room is where book submissions go in a publishing house. There, the manuscript could get a sun, a crescent moon, or a square. Sugar Flowers gets an enthusiastic sun from the readers, but the author is a mystery and no one knows who it is. But then real life events start to follow the novel and the police gets involved. This book is well written and has moments of cleverness, but it's a strange book in a good way. I liked the characters, but the reveal felt a little rushed. For a short and quick mystery read, it was fine, but definitely not my favorite Antoine Lauraine book.

My favourite of the Antoine Laurain books I have read! I loved the insight into the publishing world and was gripped by the premise of the book. Although the ending did surprise me, it felt rushed and could definitely have been explored further.
