I expected something sweet and heartwarming based on the friends who liked this, and the marketing around it.

It just didn't work for me. Written entirely in a messy, hard to read font, with unfinished drawings, and no narrative. It just reads like drafts of motivational posters, but all bound into one book.

Two stars only because one of the pages did make me feel a little something.

“Sometimes all you hear about is the hate, but there is more love in this world than you could possibly imagine.”

Okay, this was adorable. And short. I finished in about 15 minutes.

“‘Asking for help isn’t giving up.’ Said the horse. It’s refusing to give up.’”

This feels like a warm hug.

A lovely and feel good illustrated book, poetic and delicate. To watch and enjoy one page at a time. Also, cake.

Es una de las cosas más hermosas que he leído. Creo que cada personaje representa una parte de cada uno, y los ame a los cuatro, pero el Topo es el mejor.

The art in this is gorgeous. I love the loose and sketchy ink drawings interspersed with delicate pastels. But that was really it. I wasn't sure what to expect but this was so well received and one of the best selling comics of the last couple years that wasn't specifically for kids, so I figured I'd give it a look. There's no story, no plot, it just read like a series of cute platitudes about love and hope and accepting yourself, etc. All of which is important, but here just feels...empty and without substance. Pretty and pithy with some cute quips, like a series of greeting cards.
