2022: oh, man. Ik was eigenlijk het grootste deel hiervan vergeten. Wel nog steeds een leuk boek. Alleen dat einde is maar plots. Er gebeurde eigenlijk niks.

Here I am again falling in love with a book that I wouldn't normally read. [b:Ruby Red|8835379|Ruby Red (Precious Stone Trilogy, #1)|Kerstin Gier|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1312036605s/8835379.jpg|6510846]I have yet to read a book with this particular subject. Time traveling isn't something I've ever considered but I love how this author [a:Kerstin Gier|298438|Kerstin Gier|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1276520835p2/298438.jpg] created a believable tale. I absolutely loved this book and series. Gwyneth Shepard is your typical teenager and she keeps you rolling throughout this book. I laughed out loud numerous times and it compelled me to share passages with those around willing to listen. The hubs had to listen to me describe each passage and we actually discussed the intricate sections where mystery was unfolding. This book isn't just a young adult book, it actually makes you think about how the story is put together and which character has an impact on the past and present...or is that the future? I highly recommend this book to YA readers and teenagers looking for some entertainment!!

Ruby Red delves into a world of guardians and time travelers. While the core concept is intriguing, the story is riddled with unanswered questions and plot holes. The narrative introduces the idea of a "time travel" gene passed down through generations, but explanations for its origins and purpose are frustratingly absent. The characters themselves refuse acknowledge this lack of knowledge, offering nothing but “it’s the way it must be done so it will be done as such.” The limited scope of the time travel – mere minutes or hours – further diminishes its impact. (Along with them constantly telling people of the past what happens in the future including when people will die.)
The secrecy surrounding the society and their seemingly pointless trips back in time create a sense of unease rather than intrigue. The male protagonist, Gideon, comes across as a shallow playboy who flits from one Ruby (the last of the time travelers to emerge) to the next. The abrupt ending leaves the reader with a sense of dissatisfaction, it was so abrupt I had to look at my audiobook and compare it to my book to see if anything was just left out.

Toller Auftakt einer spannenden Serie und selbst mit Ü30 noch zu genießen!
Ich komm fünfzehn Jahre zu spät - und ein wenig traurig bin ich schon, dass ich die Geschichte nicht in meinen Teenagerzeiten erlebt habe -, aber das tut dem Spannungsbogen und der Handlung überhaupt keinen Abbruch.
Natürlich beäuge ich einiges deutlich kritischer als zum Beispiel mit sechzehn, aber ich konnte das Buch dennoch genießen.
Alles in allem ist’s eine sehr mitreißende Geschichte, die an den richtigen Stellen Spannung aufbaut und an anderen richtigen Stellen mit Humor punktet.
Gwen ist eine einfach zu mögende Protagonistin, auch wenn ich - als inzwischen selbst Mama - sie manchmal gern einfach schütteln und danach in den Arm nehmen mag.
Ich freue mich sehr auf die weiteren Teile und kann’s kaum erwarten, mehr über diese Welt und die in ihr lebende Magie zu erfahren.
