BOOK 1-I really liked this 1st book introduction to shadowlands. It was very hot and sexy. Even with the main Dom was only interested in small parts of BDSM it was great reading how he showed that part of his world to a newbie. I would have liked more info about Master Z life outside the club but other that I really enjoy the book and interactions between characters.
BOOK 2-This 2nd shadowlands was great. Had all the hotter than hell sex. Sweaty bondage and drool worthy men. I got more background in this book then the 1st which I really liked. I loved the garden bit with Nolan. Not sure why, but it really made me laugh. Only problem I'v got now is I can't stop till all the Dom's have their HEA.

Book two
This 2nd shadowlands was great.
Book three
Oh god. My heart broken reading the abuse Beth had gone through. I loved how Nolan worked slowly to gain her trust and bring her out of the shell her husband had beat her into. I loved how some of the characters came together to support Beth and at the end rescue her. Really enjoyed this book. My favourite moment is Cullen, I really want him to meat his perfect sub.
Book four
I would have got this read faster but life got in way. Lol. I loved this book. I loved how Andrea was strong and independent even to a fault. I loved how patient and kind Cullen was and layback for a Dom. Great book. Can't wait to start Marcus's story. God I love cowboys.

Club Shadowlands 3.5 Stars
That's definitely an interesting way to get introduced to things XD

On the one hand, I liked the fact that Z was willing to give Jessica shelter. On the other, I feel like they could have arranged something else instead of just going straight to "sign the rules and then we'll warm you up". Granted (and this was noted in the Author's Note at the beginning), things were compressed so it wouldn't have worked as well if they'd waited, I still feel like there could have been something. I did like the fact that Z kind of picked up on Jessica so easily and was able to guide her to things. Granted, he probably wouldn't be an effective Dom if he couldn't but still. Going back to the rules thing, I feel like he did miss a massive issue with that, one that could have been a lot worse. I did kind of chuckle at Jessica's need to defend though, and laughed when Z told her to stop beating people. I also liked that Z kind of left returning up to Jessica but also did it in a way that let her know he wanted her to be there.

Dark Citadel 3.5 Stars!
I'll admit I didn't like this one as much as the previous one. It was close but Club Shadowlands was definitely my favorite of the two. I felt like this one focused too much on Kari's whole "no, this is bad, how can I want this?" instead of leaning into the relationship between her and Dan and Dan's whole idiocy. Yes, those things were shown, but I felt like Kari's thing came up a lot more (again, acknowledging that things were compressed to fit the length of the story, it still was a lot IMO). I did like that Kari finally called Dan out on his fears and that he finally acknowledged it, even though it took her leaving and a hit to the head to get that to come about. I did wish that Kari had been able to hit Buck; I wanted to punch him from the beginning because he was an ass, but I liked that she was able to get people to help when Buck lost his mind. I actually laughed out loud when Dan called Z and asked for Kari's address. Really glad I work from home and wasn't supposed to be on calls...

A BDSM book that shows both proper consent and aftercare? No way.

Totally way. For that I would give this five stars. So five stars for proper care of sexual partners. Four stars for the sexy stories contained therein. Averages to 4.5 stars - but I'm giving it five because Goodreads is not down with the half star game (damn you Goodreads).

I will definitely be checking out more of these - already hunting the second one (which is actually the third book since "Masters of the Shadowlands" contains books 1 and 2 of the series).

Club Shadowlands

I really enjoyed this one.
I liked Jessica and connected with her well. I understood her confusion at times, embarrassment and jealously. I thought the scene with Cullen was well done, and how she was embarrassed facing him afterwards I totally understood. Master Z was also a likeable character, it probably helped that this being the first book Master Z wasn’t into anything too heavy.
It is a book so the relationship progression is on steroids but it was still enjoyable
Looking forward to the next one

Dark Citadel

3.75 ⭐️

I liked it.

I liked Kari and her endless honesty. She was a nice person but no doormat. There was a few times that her boundaries were pushed and I kept waiting for her to safe word, which I wouldn’t have blamed her for, and yet she looked into herself and continued. Her patience with Dan was remarkable.

While I understood why and I actually liked Dan, I felt his back and forth with Kari and her emotions wasn’t fair on her. She was new to the scene and he knew it, by becoming cold at the end of the night, it was cruel and he deserved her calling him out for it.

I would like to see how they progress as a couple

This was very well done. When a sub has suffered abuse in a previous relationship or somewhere in their past, sometimes the BDSM would just appear more abuse heaped on. Not in this case. I felt so much for Beth. Beth’s ex was the horrific Dom you read about who uses the BDSM lifestyle to abuse and torture their partner. Unfortunately for her the only men she was attracted to (dominants) were men who scared her silly due to her husbands abuse. So to combat that she was picking Doms who could not control her to protect herself. In comes master Z to the rescue, seeing her pain and wanting to help he get Nolan to take her one and see what he could do.

I thought Nolan was lovely. He was a hard Dom and loved to play, but he was also conscientious and continually watched and read Beth during scenes. I loved that time was spent to get them up to speed, and there were still things the Beth just couldn’t do. She used her safe words and he stopped and discussed where needed. He made a mistake near the end that proved costly but that was his demons he was fighting.

Because time was spent getting them together and helping Beth, these two felt more of a couple and more together than the previous books.

This one is not my favourite which is disappointing as Cullen was one of my favourite Dom’s, but in this one I struggled to connect with his character for a lot of the book. He just didn’t seem like the fun loving Dom we have seen in other books.

I didn’t connect well with Andrea either as her take care of myself attitude didn’t work for me at the start, so the first part of the book was a struggle, then part way in something connected (and I’m not sure what) and I enjoyed it, I flew through the middle of this book, and then again lost some interest at the end, about the part where she didn’t call. I agreed with him but didn’t really like his reaction either. I finished it because I was so close to the end.

I was disappointed with Dan and his reaction to scenes in this one. He is a cop as well as a Dom and meant to look at things from all sides, he shouldn’t have been taken in by manipulative subs.

Yes I want to read Marcus’s book, but I think I’ll have a rest first.
