I felt like this book was a rom-com maxmonroe-ization of  the "Real" saga by Katy Evans plus a mix of many High School teenage brooding clichés turned into a very long read that got over-extended by including Kelly family shenanigans at every possible chance. Also, for some reason, I feel like ever since "Banking the Billionaire" was released and we all fell in love with Thatch and Cassie, they've felt the need to include AT LEAST 3 unsolicited bonus scenes including the Kellys to some capacity in every book after. And, at least to me, it's becoming very tiring and old.

The Plot had potential, but the execution was too convoluted and after 100+ pages no real focus was shown (besides the money, connections and wildness of the Kellys and their circle being pointed at every turn). Love Max Monroe, just not this book.

With that being said, will keep an eye open for Lexi and Blake's book.

I am officially obsessed with this new series!
This book is funny and deeply emotional and has some twists I never expected!! Seriously, I did not expect to need tissues while reading this. I really love Scottie and Finn together. They both had so much family trauma to work through. He is so good to her from their meet-cute on.

The side characters are everything - all of the banter and friendship. And pranks, epic pranks…and Thatch plus a mini Thatch!!! You don’t have to read the previous Billionaires/Winslow brothers series, but if you do you will love the cameos and references to those characters.

I can’t recommend this book enough!

What to Expect:
🩷 New adult standalone romance
✌🏼 Dual POV
🫶 Intense first love vibes
📣 Cheerleader virgin meets the tortured bad boy
☀️ Grumpy/Sunshine - opposites attract
🥊 He FIGHTS for her. Literally.
🏫 College DRAMAAAA
😂 So FUNNY
🫦 BANTER
🔥 ANGST & loads of tension
🫢 Secrets
🌪️ Twists & turns (you will NOT see coming)
emotional funny lighthearted medium-paced

An angsty in parts, new adult romance from the writing duo that is Max Monroe with some fun cameo appearances thrown in that readers will be familiar with as the next generation reach college age resulting in Learning Curve as Finn Hayes and Scotty Bardeaux meet when they both attend Dickson College.  Scotty is there on a cheerleading scholarship while tortured bad boy Finn…. well, his motives for attending this particular school are a little more personal and involves unknown families rather than his education.  Full of the trials and tribulations of that strange inbetween age where you no longer feel like a teenager but you’re not quite an adult, this book was a rollercoaster for Finn and Scotty as they navigated the waters of young love and college and of course secrets and just as things were looking up for them, a tragedy swept them off their feet in more ways than one, leading to some emotional scenes.  But don’t think it’s all doom and gloom, any story that has appearances from Thatch Kelly is going to have you laughing out loud and if the prank king extraordinaire’s activities in Learning Curve were anything to go by, if this book should be the start of a series, then I can’t wait for Ace’s story and more from the Kelly family

Literally no one does romcoms like Max Monroe, and I will die on this hill. They had me cracking up before even the prologue. When they say this is the most bingeable book they’ve written, they’re not wrong. I literally read this 600 page book in one sitting and I 1. Don’t read that fast and 2. Have big book fear so a book this size is usually intimidating to me. I loved every second of it. I missed being in their billionaire world and I honestly felt like coming home when we got to see Ace and the billionaires and the Winslows again.  There were so many emotions throughout this one. While I’m cracking up, there’s also a deep, meaningful message about family and abuse and addiction and finding love while and after experiencing those traumas and Max Monroe did a phenomenal job at balancing the emotion with the comedy.

A lot of college romances just feel a little too young for me, but this one wasn’t like that at all. Finn had a huge secret, a scholarship to college, and a chip on his shoulder. Scottie was the cheerleading captain who was outgrowing her football-playing boyfriend. The two collided (literally) and were set on a path to help each other, and find out who and what they could be. There’s a found family aspect to this bad boy/good girl romance and my heart cracked more than once as I was reading it. This was my first novel by this duo of writers and now I plan on going back and checking out more.

Holy cow! This book had me on a rollercoaster! This is the first exposure I’ve had to this duo, and I look forward to reading more from them.

Learning Curve will tug at your heart strings and have you rooting for Finn and Scottie. They have a great meet cute, there are times where they save each other (mostly from themselves), and they are there for each other. If you want to be drug along on a major “will they/wont they”, you’re in for a treat!

Tropes:

Huge thank you to Max, Monroe, and Hambright PR for sending me this ARC!

LOVED this one!!! This will NOT be my last Max Monroe book!!

Cheerleader meets bad boy who fights a LOT, (and for HER) making them feel like a forbidden love. Add in a secret society, (with lots of secrets obviously), prank wars, and amazing side characters and you've got an absolute home run of a book!!
