Yeah I don’t know about this one.
Certainly not one of Melanie Harlow’s best works. Oliver was given too much leeway here as a character because he literally got way with pretty much everything—no consequences whatsoever. Mind you, if this has been real life, Oliver would have been a HUGE red flag.

This was a cute read of two kids who grew up together, their families were closely knit together and so Chloe and Oliver were friends. Until he talked her into jumping off a barn. That is when she started not to trust him. Can you really blame her?
As they grow up they stay close but they are a little more off and on, due to Oliver being somewhat of an unreliable bonehead. He is an adorable one at that but still, kinda clueless, mean and rude at times.
I did love their banter, and the adventure they go on once they are grown, which leads them to a second chance. There is a constant tension, that you just know Oliver isn't sharing everything, and when it gets revealed you know it already, but you guessed it he handles it like only a bonehead can do it. He does redeem himself, so you are not without an HEA.
Other than a few moments when I really disliked Oliver this was a really cute story, loved the chemistry, tension, and their journey.

I really enjoy a rivals/enemies to lovers romance - they usually come with plenty of good banter and crazy chemistry between the two main characters. This one had the potential for that but I felt like Oliver and his whole character made this book miss that mark. I really liked getting the flashback scenes to see how their relationship evolved from childhood frenemies. And seeing them work together in this one was also enjoyable because they're finally on this similar wave length. But Oliver just never felt like he grew up from his (kinda douchey) teen years. He sort of gets a redemption but I felt like the pace of the whole book didn't really allow for him to show the growth of his character well. But it was a quick read, with some good spice which I enjoyed!
Not my favorite in the Cloverleigh Farms Series but still good in my opinion! I think for me I just get so frustrated with the miscommunication trope that it kind of overshadows what's going on so I try not to fault that in my reviews! I did enjoy this book. I loved the childhood kind of enemies feel to this. I thought it added an interesting background to the story. I also am a sucker for past and present timelines so I enjoyed that aspect of the book. All in all it was a great HEA and wrapped up nicely and I would recommend it!

where was the groveling like honestly Oliver needed to do years worth of groveling before he got his happy ending
2/5 ⭐️
I didn’t really care for either of the characters and found their entire relationship incredibly frustrating. The relationship just felt immature and for characters in their 30s, it was just annoying. Oliver annoyed me, but then again so did Chloe. The book was full of some of my favorite tropes (childhood friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, etc) but it just fell short.
