This was some boring shit. I have read many classics that had me more gripped than this.

I didn’t even have high expectations, there was just pretty much nothing interesting happening. But I can appreciate some political intrigue? Maybe?

I was let down many a times, we did not defy gravity, we just ate shit.

If you are reading this because you enjoy the musical and/or movie, be prepared for a completely different story. I enjoyed the book, and I’m glad I read it, but I would not recommend this book to someone who is just a musical theatre person.

Been a fan of the musical since its inception and thought it time to finally read the original material. I was not disappointed! This book really adds more depth and clarity to both the story and the characters and is intertwined with the original L Frank Baum book in a way that connects dots beautifully. I will say at a couple points I got stuck and had to really push through, hoping it got better, and I’m glad I did. Absolutely a must-read for fans of the musical and movie(s) but beware it most definitely isn’t just a screenplay or a songbook.
