I read reviews, and it seems you either love it or hate it, and I'm on the more negative end of the spectrum. It started off promising, but quickly decided to be one of the most boring books, making it hard to keep up with and even harder to want to read. The only reason I finished this book was because B ordered me, "Ewwa! READ!" So I did.
Read at your own risk.

This was fun. I haven't read a Greek Mythology based book in awhile, and I really enjoyed how this book pulled it off. There were some problems with it, but that did not keep me from enjoying this story. I have problems when authors make their societies so misogynistic for no reason, and I felt that a lot in this book. This book centered around strong women, and yet we had this deep rooted sexism that did not further the plot. It only left some parts of the story from being the most they could be. That took me down from five stars, but I still really enjoyed this unique pairing of Hunger Games and the Greek myths.

I found this book very interesting and engaging. There are a lot of names and titles to keep track of which could make it difficult to understand and follow at times, plus I would recommend having at least basic knowledge of Greek Mythology (or your phone handy to look things up) before starting this. I enjoyed that while the perspective was from Lore, the main character, you didn't have all her knowledge. Instead, you had to wait like the rest of the characters to unravel some of her darker secrets. There is a plot twist toward the end that I feel like I maybe should have seen coming but rather enjoyed being surprised. I find it hard to be surprised by plot twist in novels but I felt the author did a great job leading you in a different direction the entire book. I would give an extra 1/2 star if I could but unfortunately we cannot on this site. I would recommend this book for those who enjoy plays off of greek mythology.

Lore was first described to me as Ancient Greek mythology meets modern New York City meets the Hunger Games. Quickly, though, I learned it is so much more than that.
Throughout the book, we follow a girl, Lore, struggling with her self-hatred as her past continually tries to catch up to her and the future she tried so hard to make for herself. But, in order to save her friends and her beloved city, she must face the Agon, the hunt she desperately wanted to be a part of seven years previous, and end it. Once and for all.
Lore is split up into five parts. Each section had wildly different lengths which disrupted the rhythm of the story. However, by the end of part one, I was sucked in so thoroughly it was hard to notice. By the time I got to the last part, I was stuck in this inner-battle of not wanting to put it down and not wanting it to end.
The romance in this book is beautifully subtle. Not dominating the plot, but there.
Generally, the foreshadowing in Lore was wonderfully hidden, though, I did see some plot points coming. Also, at the end, I still had some unanswered questions. Some of Zeus’ actions seemed... out of character, but none of the problems were bad enough to even bring it down a star.
This book mixed action-packed scenes, betrayal, romance, a toxic hierarchy, and found family in an extremely unique way. I expected nothing less from Alexandra Bracken. To be honest, I am a bit biased because her series, the Darkest Minds, was the book series that really got me into reading and it will always hold a special place in my heart. Lore, it seems, will do the same.

I enjoyed this book. Its a nice twist on greek mythology meets hungergames, kind of. I totally understand why people wouldn't like this book. However I thought it was well written and the charakters were fun, cute and approachable.

I thought the concept was interessting. As I set it is hungergames esk, with the greek gods becoming mortal every 7 years for 7 days and they fight each other to gain their powers. Lore was a part of this but left after her whole family was murdered. But though a certain event Lore gets dragged back into the games.
The whole book is in Lores POV which is actually refreshing, since most books nowerdays spring between multiple POVs which give the main charakters sometimes little development. The side charakters get little development (Expect Cas and sorry this is the third Cas I read in 2 months crazy) but even those who get little still shine in symathy and just likeablility (Miles prob my fave charakter, he was just a bob even with little delevopment).

The plot goes though heavy topics as murder (thats a given which the synopsis), sexual assault, revenge, anger issues just to name a few. Especially the Assault topic I though was quite well talked and I enjoyed that scene between Athena and Lore and how it was talked about.

All in all I would dev recommened this to a hungergames and greek mythology fan. Its not much romantic driven and its more mystery than action. But as I said I flew though this book and I enjoyed it a lot
