Some interesting extrapolations of the politics of social media, smart cities, surveillance culture, etc; wish it was better as a novel.

It's the end of the world as we know it but the beats are fine.

Uncomfortably near future dystopian post-cyberpunk. Maybe not the best genre to read in 2020 but who knows if books will still work in 2021.

Immediate, awesome and some big questions for those of us deciding whether or not to bust out the marshmallows as the world burns.

I am not the audience for this book, the narrative style is much too sparse and concept driven. Although of course the concept is the reason I picked up this book and what kept me going. The dystopian vision is very convincing and I liked the diversity and variety of perspectives in the characters. But man, everything else is skin deep. The book really hinges on the Event and it’s aftermath, the ideas are just brimming and interesting. I wish I could have connected more to it but I suppose that was never the intention.

Very interesting concepts & vision, narrative structure not as much.

Hmmm it was an ok spec-fic. But it’s no [b:Oryx and Crake|46756|Oryx and Crake (MaddAddam, #1)|Margaret Atwood|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1494109986l/46756._SY75_.jpg|3143431]. At times it’s both preachy and sincere. I was far more interested in the Before than the bulk of the book After.
Very surreal to be reading about the collapse of civilisation during a global pandemic.

A startling vision of the future which is likely to come true. Surprisingly hopeful.

Received this book as a gift and knew nothing about it, but was pleasantly surprised. Super relevant in the current technological climate.

I am losing patience in my old age. If a book does not hook me or I find it boring, it is time to move on. Case in point this book. Nothing worth while for me here, move on.
