(This is book 1/3 of the wildflowers duet)
Yall, send help please!!! This book was 90% sunshine and rainbows and 10% devastating. This book made me feel so happy and giddy and full of love only to destroy me. It hit me like a bus and I cried.
I devoured this book, I started and finished it in the same day. While it’s definitely giving slow burn vibes and no exact plot, it was SO good. (To me anyways) I loooove a good age gap, single dad, grumpy x sunshine trope, but this one ripped my heart out of my chest.

How does this book have so many 5 star reviews?

It was melodramatic for the sake of being melodramatic … probs because the storytelling was so subpar that “trauma” had to be introduced every 30-50 pages to carry the plot. And there was very little reverence paid to the trauma itself - WHICH MAKES IT WORSE.

The smut was amateur, which is fine but not what I expected with this many 5 stars. The dialogue revolved around Diet Coke and cookie dough 😒 and their flirting was just blah.

If you are looking for a taboo age-gap romance, go read Praise. Because this isn’t good.

Also, Salem is so cringy. Her selfishness is beyond. And I just looked up the plot for the second book, looks like she selfishness is even messier.

Ugh. Nope. I hated this.

So, we are killing lovable 6 year olds now? This is not a good plot point, who wants this in a romance book??

I say that and I still enjoyed the first 80% a lot. It was fast paced and I enjoyed the slice of life moments of the mini family. Which, adds more to the unnecessary death of the kiddo. If I wasn’t in the know about that before I started… I would have lost it.

Thayer is weird name, so is Salem.
