Cute story, great art but it felt disjointed sometimes. Mythical creatures roam free and only the brightest students are invited to study them. In Book 1 of this riveting new middle grade graphic novel series, a gifted young cryptozoologist-in-training must learn to tame powerful beasts—including her own inner demons. This felt like a webtoon as in it didn’t flow from one scene to the next as effortlessly as I hoped it would. Also the size didn’t allow the gorgeous artwork to breathe properly. I also think a glossy finish would have really made it pop.
