Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This is an interesting concept--students competing to become a crytopozoologist's assistant, studying and helping to heal injured fantastical creatures.
The artwork in this middle grade graphic novel is beautiful and pulls you into the story. The mystery, hints, clues, and misdirection keep you intrigued, trying to figure out what is really going on, but there are times when the jumps between scenes feel slightly disjointed to me.
I enjoyed reading this one and will most likely read the next installment as well. This one ends on a cliffhanger.

What a wonderful graphic novel full of mystery, magic, and stunning gothic illustrations. Cannot wait to read the second volume next. Vibes in line with Coraline, Mavis (Hotel Transylvania), and The Spiderwick Chronicles.
I received a copy for review from NetGalley.
The storyline for this was really interesting. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the mystery plot. The only issue I had was that the panels seemed to jump around a lot from scene to scene, which often made the moment feel incomplete. The magical creatures were also intriguing.
The art was gorgeous. This is the style of art I really enjoy.
Overall a fun story, but at times a bit scattered.

I loved the art, especially of the cryptids, but the pacing felt jarring. I also wish the art was given more room to breathe instead of being crammed into tiny panels.
Loved the color palette, character drawings. Some of the writing was very little and in italics so it made it hard to read at times.
This is a very interesting book 1. I think due to some translating issues there are some spots where it feels like the panels are missing a bridge between the two, and the beginning feels a little rushed. But it's very intriguing and I'm excited to read vol 2
I didn’t finish it so one star. It didn’t hold my attention. The art was good but it seemed too small. It needed bigger pages for bigger panels. I’m sure it’s good for the right audience, but that’s not me.
This was pretty good. I’m not sure if I’ll continue it or not but it was interesting and the art style was really nice. I loved learning about all the cryptids.
