2.5 stars... This book kinda sucked but it was interesting character portrait. Read because David Sedaris recommended it and I can see why he enjoyed it but i personally do not enjoy hundreds of pages of repetitions and no plot

This was a fascinating book, it was difficult to read at times given the dark subject matter and expletive/gross language. I found myself cringing at the disturbing imagery. However despite this, I found myself compelled by the twisted main character and her odd narrative. If you like complicated and unlikable characters that have deep internal life that ends up leaking out into the story, definitely check this out. Eileen tells a story of a miserable woman that when faced with an impossible circumstance changes deeply. Im rating this at a 3.75, not because I didn’t enjoy it or wouldn't recommend it but because it was truly odd. I enjoyed it but I wouldn’t read it again.

at the start it was like watching paint dry but then the ending was adventurous though a little too short in my opinion…
i also think that rebecca wasn‘t entirely real! i think her character itself definitely was, as she was seen interacting with other characters. however, i think many of the interactions between her and eileen were from eileen‘s imagination!
I’d challenge Ottessa to write something not horribly depressing for once.
