One of the best horror novels that I have ever read. I hadn't seen the film adaptations, although I knew their premise. The investigative elements and suspense has me hooked and delighted. A must read for horror fans who love a solid mystery.

Love the movies and picked this up to learn more. It was alright I guess, kind of liked the movies a lot more. The main characters do not respect women, they think they should stay “quiet” and the casual acceptance of rape was weird and unnecessary.

Fuck this book. It was really slow and had long chapters so I had trouble getting into it. I never felt any urgency or excitement to continue reading. Parts of this made me extremely mad; like the nonchalant acceptance of rape acted out by multiple characters, blatant toxic masculinity, and the transphobic rhetoric. I do not recommend this.
