Time jumps are not my thing. The amount of nothing going on doesn’t make me intrigued enough to know about the other god or why Brandi is so strong. Sarah is just there basically. There’s nothing to connect me emotionally to the characters. Chances are, I might come back to this story bc I think this author is great, but I’m not going to force myself into a slump and fall behind.

Useless white women make me ick. Shout out to my girl Brandi, the baddest to ever do it, for roughing it with that woman for so long 🫡
I liked the magic system of this book and how Brandi was unapologetically fierce and calculating throughout the book. Jack loves her down and has from the beginning. Having them be in a committed relationship from the beginning was a nice change from a lot of books I read where the couple is budding. The 3rd person omniscient pov had my head spinning sometimes. That is not my preferred pov, so it was hard to read in that regard. That paired with every time I was put in Sarah's head made me itch. I think the point of view also made it so we only see pieces of Jack and Brandi's dynamic and mostly only from the outside. Made them seem unattainable as a couple. Other than that, I think this was a strong debut.

Loved everything about this book! The FMC was unapologetically fierce and brilliant
