Ugh I knew this was going to be good, but not that damn good.
Although short (to me ;) ) this book was full of all the things that take a book that much farther for me to love it so much I lose sleep because of it.
That forbidden & age gap aspects had me right in its clutches!

Ros & Shane are COMPLETE opposites but they are something else entirely and I was there for it all.
That first meeting outside had me so giddy and I had just started reading the book for crying out loud.
We all love a bad boy though don't we? add in a bike and that "don't fuck with me attitude", phew! I understood Ros all the more at that moment.

There is of course that pesky rough part and I did get misty eyed because Ros was crying, I couldn't help it. This boy just had a way of grabbing on and wouldn't let go. He was so innocent but not so much that he couldn't see exactly the situation that he knew was wrong. When he grew his backbone he did it all the way without looking back to see what his future would be like now.

This book laid the best foundation to get to know the rest of the characters mentioned in this book. I am curious about the wild man, this is a iykyk type of lead in. If you don't then I guess you need to meet Ros & Shane first ;)

I enjoyed this book. I'm a sap for revenge/corruption/seduction/betrayal tropes. And damn, I gotta say that first encounter description of Rosen as the Fae Prince is something dreams are made of.
All in all the book felt lighter than the 'dark' themes it dealt with. Things were made easy, making this an easy read, and that's o.k.

May be SPOILERS, stop reading here!!!!

..thoughts as I was reading:
Easy forgiveness after something like "the thing" that happened here is one of the reasons I got turned off M/F books. There is a power imbalance that I just cannot get over. Here, although well written, it came to soon, too easy and with Ros the only one struggling (I don't know if he would have forgiven Shane if he wasn't struggling even though he loved and missed him).

* calling him a 'boy' all the time gets old and annoying.
* I like the fantasy parallel, Hades, Persephone, Cerberus, the post apocalyptic aspect of the junkyard and Jag as a character (can't wait for his book)
* I can feel the world building solidifying as the book continues.
* I wish I could see the Hades sculpture, it must be hell-a awesome to behold.
***I , again, had Sugar by Sleep Token on repeat, it just fit for me and set the tone.

*favorites
*to read again, easily

Sadly, I couldn’t really get into the book. With a blurb like this one, I was always waiting for things to happen and for some darker events to happen … but none of them ever really happened. Sure some darker stuff happened but to be honest, I was just expecting more. Maybe I just had my expectations set the wrong way, but having read KA Merikan books before, I was expecting this book to go very dark and have a lot of mind control involved and it never really did.

This is a revenge story where Shane was sent to prison by Rosen’s dad, so when Shane gets out of prison, he decides to make Rosen suffer for what Shane had to go through. Shane’s goal is to ruin Rosen, which is why I was expecting the book to be very dark and very griping, I absolutely adored the idea of the blurb and I wanted to read this book so badly because of it.

This was a very good book and I loved the content in it. It just wasn’t what I was expecting from the book so I couldn’t really get into it. My expectations really failed me on this one because there was nothing wrong with this book, it just wasn’t the book I thought it would be. Which i’m a 100% to blame for. This one is all on me. I did love a lot of the themes the book presented and how they were presented, I just couldn’t really get into the book because I was expecting it to be something it wasn’t. This book was full of very sweet couple moments though, and I did really enjoy those.

Also I never got really engaged with the book, it took me a very long time to actually get invested in the characters and their love story, which is all on me and once again probably because I had different expectations than what the book ended up being.

Also, Shane was not built up enough as a character for me to really get behind him, his motivations always seemed on the surface level and I just needed more to his character to appreciate him. I felt like he was a little too undeveloped and I couldn’t really connect with him because of it. Also he never seemed to truly hate Rosen’s dad, which made it so I couldn’t really understand his grudge against him, I just needed a little more from his character to really be into him.

But all in all it was a fine book, it just didn’t pull me in as much as I expected it to.

I received an ARC of this book, and this is my honest review.

This was actually a fun book. Our main characters are full of issues but you can understand why and how they click

This book was ok not great but then took a dive when one of the main characters tries to rape the other. Instant nope for me and I hated that Ros took Shane back.

Sin la muerte y cadáveres de por medio, igual habría sido igual de dramático.

Guys, I have no idea what happened, here! The cover is delicious and I loved the premise, but unfortunately, the execution fell flat for me. I knew I was in trouble when I started skimming. That's pretty much a first for these authors. I just couldn't connect at all. *sad-face*
