Shane and Rosen are the stereotypical opposites attract in this story.
Enjoyed the overall trope of a wrongly accused man being released after serving 10 years in prison with his only intent to screw over the guy who really did it, Ros' dad.
Spice kicks off immediately with Shane taking Ros' virginity in the first chapter which was unexpected.
Shane was too quick to fall for Ros, IMO. I would have liked a few chapters where Shane hated Ros for who's son he is and continued to plot to bring down Ros' father through him with no remorse. I feel like it would have set for a better conflict mid book with Shane's changing feelings.
The plot was predictable but hopefully a good set up for the rest of the series.
Dex(Franks Nephew) seems fun but Jag sounds WILD, would love to see him later in the series with his own story since he sounds a bit insane.

2.5⭐
Revenge, MM, rich/poor, ex-con x son of the man who put him in jail.
It was insta-lusty, revenge poorly executed, closeted MC, not that much romancing.

The plot of this book lost itself a third of the way through but i wanted to finish it by the time I was rolling my eyes at everything happening
This book turned out to be a little lighter in the angst than I'd expected, but that's not a bad thing. The first love scene and the events leading up to it was AMAZING.
Weirdly I enjoyed this. No one is super likable but it worked.

The premise of this book is really really cool. A guy called Shane has just gotten out of prison after 10 years. He’s been wrongly convicted for a crime. He didn’t commit by a rich politician guy. Now that he’s out of prison, the book starts off with him, going to deal drugs to a frat. At the frat house he meets Ros, who is the closeted son of the dirty politician. Shane’s genius idea is to make Ross fall in love with him, get proof that he’s gay, and then show it to his homophobic politician dad in an attempt to mess with his life.
I was expecting a drama between these two characters where Shane slowly started catching feelings for Ross, and this started causing turmoil between them, you know like secrets and lies kind of vibe. What I got was so different.
Let me preface this by saying that I mean, no disrespect to the authors, and I know that having evil or morally dark characters is completely valid. I myself have really enjoyed books where one of the characters was so bad that there wasn’t even a happily ever after, so that’s not my issue with this book.
My issue with this book is that none of the characters have any redeeming qualities, even Ross, who is supposed to be the nicer Innocent MC. I’ll start with Ross. He’s completely vapid and has no personality, he makes awful choices, he has zero self-respect, and it seems like his only redeeming quality is that he’s handsome. Shane is so bad. Like I totally respect that he’s supposed to be a morally dark/gray character, but at first he is not dark in a way that is likeable at all. Like he randomly threw a trashcan on someone’s head for no reason, he punches holes in the walls, and is just genuinely awful in every way.
This book is absolutely insta-lust/love. It makes sense on Ross‘s side because he has attachment issues, but the whole point of this book (I THOUGHT) is that Shane is trying to get revenge on Ross‘s dad by being with Ross, but it’s totally just pushed to the back burner, and Shane just sort of falls for Ross, but he doesn’t seem to have any turmoil about it either, which is kind of weird. Then the events of the story are just so ridiculous. There’s two random characters that die of drug overdoses for some reason. The absolute worst part is when Shane gets mad at Ross, and then he basically locks him in a cage, and is attempting to R-word him. On camera, by the way. And he’s literally about to do it until Ross says that Shane is R-wording him out loud. Then Shane suddenly stops and let him go. That’s crazy. What do you mean you didn’t realize how bad it was that you were sexually assaulting someone until they pointed it out to you. Then by the end of the story, Shane suddenly decides he’s gonna be a better person and never does anything bad again. And is completely different in his actions.
The actual quality of the writing isn’t bad, the authors do do a fairly good job of descriptions for example. But just the events of the book and the characters were so negative for me personally.

I really enjoyed the theme of this book. The MCs where playing their parts to a tee. I even felt the betrayal. This was a great mix of character development and hot erotic mm sex scenes. I had read this author before and I know how great they write. I will continue the series which is why I gave it such a high rating.
