This was actually a fun book. Our main characters are full of issues but you can understand why and how they click

Well, that was
something. đŸ«€ these two men are, seemingly, thrown together by their sexual urges- which, FAIR. Although the book promises more than that, it does not deliver more than that. I won’t be reading any more books from this series.

Very enjoyable story. Decent character depth, definitely not a rom com, but not as gritty as it could be (and definitely not as dark as the cover suggests). The main characters are both pretty wholesome, except the one scene where Shane tries to be the bad guy and actually fails at it. I like that this was done earlier in the book, so we had time to watch him grow, grovel, and be forgiven, instead of a third act breakup which ends in simple forgiveness.

I ended up abandoning this one even if I skimmed and skipped to the ending. I do not mind a dark romance, and even the sexual assault scene could have been used by the author to tell a really scary story about a character losing his own identity in this revenge, and then having to build the trust again and find himself again. My problem was that the main character was really really... unorganized. While I was reading that SA attempt scene all I could think was "Why? Why not record in secret? What is this even?" The plan made absolutely zero sense. I started to root for the police, hoping they would find all the crimes these people were hiding.

This is the first book by K. A. Merikan I've read and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Overall the story was decent and I wound up liking and rooting for them to work things out. I also liked the found family elements with frank, Dex, and Jag. What I wasn't overly fond of was some of the descriptive words used especially during the sex scenes. It's just a personal preference thing, but it really took me out of the story at times. Also certain things just happened way too fast and others never got addressed at all ( such as Pete).I didn't dislike it, I just think it could have been better.
