I absolutely loved this. Driver has such a brilliant way with words, this was a joy to read. An unorthodox life told in a way that allows you in to the world she inhabits and the things she thinks in such a way that you almost feel you know her like a friend. This is funny, challenging and clever and so beautifully written.

A memoir in essays, Driver has clearly a great deal more to offer than just her acting, which, in fact, takes up a small portion of the book. Her memories of her elementary school years, her relationships with her parents, and some of the interesting people she's met throughout her life are told brilliantly. A reminder that really acting is storytelling, I recommend this on audio, as Driver reads it herself, being as British as humanly possible.

Don’t read this book expecting a consolidate A-Z history of her life. Imagine a ball bouncing along her timeline and every time it bounces she’s writes a story at that time. 1st half early years was more cohesive giving a strong impression of her early life. 2nd half of book, stories are more disjointed often bouncing many years leaving you chasing to catch up with the context.

There is no desire to fill in all the blanks and unknowns about the characters. She talks about having her son and then never really mentions him ever again…

That being said her stories were written charmingly and engagingly… it is easy to picture the furious curly haired youngster.

Not your usual celeb memoir. A series of terrific vignettes written with humor, insight and tears. Full of feeling and very well done.

I think the problem is in description as a “memoir” in essays. It’s really just essays and there are snippets of her life rather than her life. I enjoyed the audio read of the essays in her own voice.

I loved this collection of essays, read by Minnie on the audio. Such intelligent and beautiful writing (and reading).
