This was my first Rina Kent book and I can officially say: I’m hooked. I completely understand the obsession now, and I’m already planning to dive into Legacy of Gods while I count down the days for Book 2 in this series.
It did take me a little while to fully get into the story—things didn’t really pick up for me until about the 30% mark—but once it did, I couldn’t put it down. The tension, the darkness, the way everything slowly unravels… it was completely addictive. That said, I’m docking half a star because of the slapping scene—it didn’t sit right with me—but aside from that, I was all in.
Kane’s character development was such a pleasant surprise. I went into this praying he’d grow and evolve, and watching that transformation happen was incredibly satisfying. Rina did a great job of peeling back his layers and making you feel for him, even when he was being intense or out of line. He’s complex and flawed and still somehow completely captivating.
And Dahlia. What an absolute sweetheart. She’s kind, thoughtful, and so full of heart, but without ever feeling naive. Her strength is quiet but powerful, and I loved how she always seemed to say exactly what I was feeling—her “girl I feel that” texts genuinely made me laugh and feel seen. It’s so rare to find a heroine in this genre who is soft and smart and strong in her own way, and she completely stole my heart.
Also, the side characters? Obsessed. The friendships, the banter, the chaos—I already know I’m going to fall hard for some of these future pairings.
Overall, a dark, emotionally intense story with the perfect mix of angst, heart, and heat. I’m officially a Rina Kent fan and can’t wait to see where this series goes next!!

Honestly, the being forced to break up to hurt the guy trope is getting pretty boring for me, but I enjoyed the characters. I was under the impression that Rina was tired of her universe and wanted to start something new, so I didn't put it together that Kane's uncle is Kayden until I saw Gareths name. Overall, it was a fun book but I'd love to see something different from Rina.

I have to be completely honest because I didn't like this.
Rina tends to be a very hit or miss author for me and this one was a miss. I had high hopes for this book because I love Hockey romances, I love secret societies, and I love dark romance. This book read like the author wrote all of the spicy scenes first and they tried to force a story between the spice. The story didn't flow well at all and the characters choices made almost no sense to me. This couple is more of enemies with benefits until Dhalia forces Kane to be in a relationship with her. Reading this book I honestly felt like these two didn't like each other in any way whatsoever, but they were both just horny and needed that scratch itched.
Also hockey where???? This was 100% more like a dark mafia book where the MMC just so happens to play hockey.
I almost forgot about how annoyed I got at Dahlia. She is specifically going to this collage to find out what happened to her foster sister, but like continually forgets because she wants to get laid. Her 'revenge' also felt like a side quest for her when it was supposed to be her motivating factor.
It's a very real possibility I read this book at the wrong time an would have enjoyed it more if I was ovulating, but I didn't have a good time reading it and I only finished it out of spite.
