Lewis did the bible for WARDROBE, now he's doing HAMLET. The Caspian flashback and the idea of the time jump is the best stuff; but now realizing that the Pevensie children are dull and boring—get em outta there. (Gladdened to hear their roles diminish going forward.) Bit of a waste overall, but pleasant enough.

I'd forgotten this story, where the Pevensies restore Prince Caspian to his rightful place as King of Narnia. There's a lot of wonderful language here - the British of the 1940's, the "King's English" from the 1700-1800's with a flair of pre-teen kids, and the various accents of the characters.
There's also a fair amount of real violence and battle. Lewis didn't spare that despite his intended audience. These days I find that more refreshing than not; the world is a harsh place sometimes, and kids have to face that no less than adults. People (bad guys) die in this book and in this series.
On the other hand, Aslan romps. He jumps in and starts the fray and everyone dances and rolls and has a ball. If Aslan is the Christ figure, then I'm looking forward to that in heaven!
What a pleasure. Lynn Redgrave was superb.

Hmm...MOVIE IS STILL BEST THAN THIS BOOK!
