I really enjoyed this finale! A lot of politics but I love Alex and Sage’s relationship so I didn’t mind it so much.
This book was fantastic. It was my favorite in the series and on my top ten of all time. I love all of the politics that were in this one. Though it was predictable it was still interesting to see how the character discovered who the traitor was.

Usually the third book is the best book, but not here.
I do still really enjoy this series and would recommend it to all. However, I do feel the books going down a little each time. For me, the plots just aren't as strong and seem a bit of a stretch. Early into this book, Sage is promoted to ambassador. I'm sure it's because I haven't personally known any 6th century kings, but promoting Sage, an 18 year old illegitimate child (yes, not a big deal now but back then huge deal) to that of a royal tutor made sense. She enjoyed teaching. She "taught" people to read in book 1. To promote her to ambassador so quickly, seemed like a stretch. But ok, I'll work with it. Then she gets promoted again and I think.....no way. Is it just me?
That mixed with the lazy plot made this a solid 3. Still entertaining. Still fun to read. Still love the characters. But [b:The Traitor's Kiss|29346870|The Traitor's Kiss (The Traitor's Circle, #1)|Erin Beaty|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1485799438l/29346870._SY75_.jpg|49584011] is the true star of this series.

Guys I just finished and I’m kinda crying but have no fear, the series has a happy and satisfying end. My tears are from the pain of knowing that I will never get to relive this story for the first time, but these characters will live on in my heart forever.

This was a wonderful ending. I stayed up way past my bedtime to finish this beauty and will be going into work with not my usual amount of sleep.
But it was worth it.
I loved this series for how out of the norm it is, Sage isn’t a princess, Alex isn’t a prince they are just people trying so the right and it’s so refreshing. I loved how I didn’t even need to a reread before diving it, but now I want to. Because I just closed the book and I already miss them.
I connected to Sage a lot in the book with the waiting for Alex but I’m glad she was able to grow and stand up on her own and save a whole kingdom in the process.
Alex grew too and watching Sage and him develop as a couple was so inspiring.
All of the side characters were also so well developed. We had Clare and Cass and Lani and now Zoroya and they were all developed all dealt with their own troubles they had to overcome.
I found the plot to be super enticing. A big game of who did it with the stakes a lot higher, a lot of lies and a lot of politics but none of it felt boring, like politics can do.
Spectacular. I can’t wait to reread them.

Being former military, there were so many small details in the trilogy that made my little Army heart happy. But the writing and character arcs really sold me on the series. the plots were well-thought-out and developed and nothing felt contrived.
100% would recommend to anyone who loves great plots, stellar characters and development, military strategy and strong female characters.
I'll even forgive the author for being a Naval officer
