It dropped half a star to 4.5 due to the Billy Graham jumpscare at the end.
wow
Moving story. Most of the novel held my attention completely, quite a feat for a biographical history. Quite well written and adequately annotated.
Worth reading.

compelling story, long. Listened to audio version. Well done.
I would have given this book a 4, but there were just too many parts that I struggled through and simply did not enjoy. That being said it is a great story and really portrays a man who learned how to forgive.
Read this book!
It is completely engrossing. It's honest and SO vividly written. I loved every aspect of this book.

Harsh war story but one of triumph. Wanted to read it before watching the movie based on it.
Loved this book. I felt every emotion that could possibly be felt while reading this book. To think that someone lived through this is what truly amazes me.
Although not a light read, I highly recommend this book to everyone.

I love it when nonfiction focuses on the people and the personalities. This is an interesting biography of a very interesting person.
I read Unbroken when it was first released and recently listened to the excellent audio narration by Edward Herrmann in preparation for a book group discussion. This true story reads like a thriller - I could not put it down (in this case, the 'it' being my iPod) with a deeply moving human story at the center. Highly recommended.
What a remarkable story. Hard to stomach at times, but worth the read!
