i’ve burned through three lily chu books this week, and this one is by far my favorite. i find the main characters not only lovable (important) but also unique and interesting.

chu does not sugarcoat the shit that can come your way when working in DEI with people both consciously and subconsciously evil. i thought this aspect of the book might make me spiral about Current Times™️, but i found it both realistic and inspiring.

thirdly, i know the odds that *anyone* reads this review are slim, let alone the author… but lily if you don’t write a book about hana and kit (i KNOW that was who you kept hinting about), i will be writing a strongly worded letter 🤧

A cute book by one of my favourite writers in the exciting wave of talented and diverse Canadian romance authors writing about diverse characters. I’ll happily gobble up anything Lily Chu writes.

Lily Chu never disappoints. This was another really fun audiobook... I loved the nerdiness of the MMC and FMC and the scavenger hunt aspect was a blast. Plus, you'll never see me turn my nose up at a strong FMC that overcomes the barriers holding her back in her career. Nailed it Lily, nailed it!

Lily Chu does it again! another great book. I don't know how she manages it, but she keeps wriing about people and situations I don't exactly relate with but are SO relatable anyway. She writes about minoritiies, Asians in particular, in a universal way, if that makes sense.
And she always hits the nail right on the head with her books' themes, which tend to match my interests somehow.
In this one, we follow a diversity assistant with a lnack for puzzles who goes to work in the fashion industry. Tough cookie. Especilly when one of the senior staff turns out to be her new boyfriend.
Her journey and the people she meets and interacts with are incredible. She is funny but real, and so are the situations. I had a great time listening to this at physio.
Did it hit just like the first ones I read from her? Not really, but I did love it

Another great contemporary romance by Lily Chu. Great plot and I love the Toronto setting
