Romance novels always sell you the hype of meeting someone and falling in love with them for the first time. We hardly get to see people within a marriage reconnecting and finding their bonds stronger after a quarrel or some life changing event. This book is a breath of fresh air. It is funny and witty, while at the same time making you truly care about their marriage and hoping that the two can reconcile their differences. Sometimes a little communication goes a long way.

This was a fun regency read. I find miscommunication as a plot device annoying, and this one had miscommunication as a central theme, so that spoiled it a bit for me. But I did like the idea of a romance set within a marriage, rather than before.

Super short and sweet, a fun twist on the romance genre. I had some slight issues with the communication between the two characters and kind of wished that the blame for the lack of communication was more evenly shared but overall it was a fun read.

I was a bit disappointed by this book. Although this plot was new I think the overall writing didn’t captivate me.

The whole not speaking too each other went on way too long in the book even though it skipped ahead 4y. Just annoying, honestly. Otherwise I liked it but that was like a bit taken too far and then taken even further.
funny lighthearted tense
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

at around 70% it starts to become repetitive and exhausting to me. like i love pettiness but damn !! i REALLY wanted to love this book but hm

Amusing, but not as humorous as I had hoped. Both James and Violet had the emotional range of a toddler which grew quite tedious after awhile, but their barbed banter was entertaining. I think I would actually be more interested in hearing the stories of some of the side characters, which were left with plenty of open threads.

Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for the ARC.

I guess this wasn’t the worst but both main characters were insufferable and immature
