As if jury duty wasn't bad enough! Katherine "Kitty" Katt leaves the courthouse after jury duty and immediately runs into an alien in a psychotic rage bent on killing everyone around him. She kills him with an expensive fountain pen and from then on it's all angry aliens, sexy men in black suits, top secret government organizations, action, adventure and more (did I mention the sexy men in black suits?). Looking for a fast paced read filled with fun and flirty characters and some saving-the-world action?

I'm a bit hesitant between 2.5 and 3.
It's not badly written, it's just not particularly purposeful: not enough comedy, note enough romance or 'steamy' scenes, I don't know, not enough of some particular element to characterise it

Funny, fast-paced, doesn't take itself seriously. Like a 60s tv show. Fun but definitely not read to improve your mind!
Loved it! Such great dialogue, totally laugh out loud funny. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!
So this was a fun book. My library loan was about to run out so I started reading and couldn't stop.
It follows Katherine "Kitty" Katt as she discovers an alien war has been taking place on the planet. Unfortunately, she discovers this because she witnesses an attack of the parasitic aliens attempting to take over. The good news is she thinks quickly and takes down the alien and quickly meets a group of unbelievably handsome men - more aliens, but the good ones!
Kitty is awesome - she's funny and smart, a great heroine. She seemed a bit too smart at times but
I liked a lot of the characters... I'm interested how her interpersonal relationships will develop since I see this is a super long series and I hope things stay pretty settled.

Spoiler
when you meet her parents that makes a lot of sense - I mean they are both basically geniuses in their trade (spy/strategist for Mom and cryptologist for dad)I liked a lot of the characters... Wow! Just wow! This was my first book with aliens in it and I was very skeptical and didn’t know what to expect.... I was really shocked when I realized I was very much enjoying this book, yes it has its flaws but it was great overall! You really have to push through the first couple of chapters but after that it is smooth sailing. Don’t listen to the people who aren’t even getting past page 20, this is a good book you just have to give it a chance and a little time, I promise it’s worth it! I loved the characters and I was really intrigued about the aliens forms(the bad guys, but the good guys too of course) it really got my imagination going and got me hooked! I absolutely LOVED Jeff, I mean seriously OMG!! The moment he opened his mouth I was in love, don’t ask me why, I really don’t know why it was so love at first read! The other characters had to grow on me though, but by the end of the book I liked them all..... well not all but you got the point. I will be reading the next book VERY soon, I need to know what happens but I am emotionally exhausted right now do to this book, so I’m going to regen by rereading an old favorite of mine so I can be filled with love so I can continue this great series.
Honestly? I thought this was so boring. The first half was the tech stuff because you know us readers can't figure it out or the author couldn't figure out how to mix those in with the story.
couldn't make it past the first 20 pages. the humor was cheesy and the guy could've been a little more hard to get
I liked this a lot! The main character has lots of spunk and the book is chic full of action with a few laugh out loud moments. I found it a bit surprising how easily Kitty accepted the aliens and super beings. I loved her mother! She was a riot! I couldn't like the alien boys thou. The girls I did like, the boys I found annoying, hence the loss of a star.
This book was suggested *ahem, a lot* by my twitter friends…and I do mean suggested in the most “you have to read this or we will lynch you” sort of way. I was skeptical at first simply because I am not generally a sci fi type of girl. In fact just thinking about watching the SyFy channel on tv gives me hives. I don’t enjoy Star Trek as a whole, though the new movie was good but the men were hot. And so when I was told how fantastic this book really was, I wasn’t sure if I would read it.
A few days ago I was approached about reading the third book in the series and I hung my head in shame that I hadn’t gotten to this one yet. So I grabbed it out of my “to be read” pile and started in on it. I got about 3 chapters into it and I knew I was hooked. It seriously is unlike anything I have read before now.
The story centers around a seemingly ordinary woman named Kitty who just happens to see a alien sprout out of some random dudes body in the middle of a downtown dispute. Not knowing what else to do she springs into action when it starts going on a rampage. She busts out an expensive pen her father gave her, jumped onto its back, and stabbed it in the back of the neck. Yes, because that’s totally what I would do too. Well, minus the expensive pen. Would a .25 pen work? Heh.
Seeing how well she handled herself, the gorgeous men patrol, aka the Alpha Centuri’s, decide they could use her on their side. They are aliens themselves, just you know, ones that look like Calvin Klein underwear models, sent to earth to protect us from the bad alien parasites. Think, body snatchers. Hell yes, probe me….please. Jeff Martini, a powerful empath decides Kitty is his one and only and declares his love after about 30 seconds. He’s cocky, hilarious, and has many more layers then he lets everyone else see. Oh, and he’s buff…have I mentioned they all are? I did. Oh. Well they are….very very hot men.
Along with Martini comes Christopher, the surly, wiseass, cocky but in an annoying way, one. He hates Kitty from the first instant they meet. Well, kinda. I personally think he just needs some action. Might loosen him up a bit.
The banter between Martini, Christopher and Kitty is hilarious, and I found myself laughing…ok, snorting….out loud at many parts of the book. Then found myself panting after Martini in the next instant. Oh my, that man. *SIGH* Kitty was refreshing. She was a take no prisoners type of girl. Totally, 100% sarcastic…ahh LOVED HER. Her ability to think on her feet with practicality while the men kinda stood there was awesome. Total role reversal from some things I’ve read.
Yes, there is a lot of Sci Fi within the pages. It’s about aliens. However, Gini Koch has made me a believer! I’m in love with this series and these characters! I even bent the spine on my copy. That never happens, seriously, never. I’m weird about making a crease in the spine. I was so caught up in the continuous action that I didn’t even notice what I was doing to my precious book.
