This book should be required reading in every HS curriculum in America. While I learned a vague overview of the history, it was definitely not presented in such a succinct yet emotionally rich way. George Takei is open and vulnerable in his recollection of his life. Incredible life while dealt an impossible hand. The modern parallels have only gotten more blatant. It was hard to read at times because of how relevant it is right now.

Wow. Well done.
I saw George Takei speak in the fall of 2023. He mentioned this memoir, that I wasn't aware of. Glad I finally got around to reading it.
If you ever get the chance to hear him speak or read this graphic novel, I would recommend you do so. There are not many people left who can tell about this horrible time in our history, from first hand experience.
