I absolutely loved everything until the fmc met her goal of the story; I felt like it happened too quickly, making it anticlimactic despite all the anticipation

3.5 ☆ | If I had read this when it came out and I was a teen I'm sure I would have found this to be the best fantasy ever. As an (almost) 26 year old, I can say I enjoyed it but unfortunately ya literature in general just doesn't hit the same as it used to... however, I still had fun reading this and will try to continue the series!

Gracelings are people born with heterochromia, a condition giving them one eye of one color and the other eye another color. (My eyes are also separate colors, but instead of them both being solid, they're brown outside the pupil, green for the center ring, and blue on the very outside.)
Katsa has one blue eye and one green eye. Po has one silver eye and one gold eye.
Gracelings are born with Graces, special skills of heightened capabilities that allow them to do something exceptionally well. Katsa becomes used by her uncle for her Grace, which is how she ends up meeting Po. Together, they embark on a mission to save Princess Bitterblue from King Leck, who abuses his Grace and many people along the way.
I found the worldbuilding here to be extremely well-done and very enjoyable to read, and I can't wait to dig in to the rest of the books. Hats off to Kristin Cashore!
