Loved revisiting this book! It was my first time listening to it on audio and I feel like events unfolded more quickly than I remembered. Pros: I'm still very into the worldbuilding and the concept of graces. Cons: I feel like Katsa forgave and trusted Po very quickly. Too quickly, really, considering what we know of her character.
Graphic: Death, Violence, Murder
Minor: Animal cruelty, Child abuse
What can I say I’m a sucker for a magic system with its own lingo, a brutish heroin, and a cute romance. Great story, there were many clever developments and stakes to the plot. The writing, including the dialogue, was delightful to read. This, along with the character development of the FMC were the highlights of the book for me.
Fast, fun, young-adult fantasy novel. I'd give it 3.5 stars.
I didn't care for the characters and the plot didn't grip me.
4.5⭐️ Rounded down to 4
I honestly hadent expected much from this book and was very pleasantly surprised. I remember finishing it at like 2am after reading with my flashlight and feeling so warm and happy because it was just so… idk what the word is

I liked the overall story, but the full cast audiobook was hard to get into. Although, one guy sounded like General Shang, so heyyyy. Call me.
I wish you could see my face when I read that Po was *****! My jaw DROPPED. I almost ran to Megan's door screaming.
This was a cute little fun read. Other reviewers said that, at some times, the wording is a bit odd. I would have to agree, although I didn't have much of a problem with it. I will say that I feel like I didn't have enough time to properly understand and grow attached to the characters.... The story felt so confined to this one book and it almost felt too small. The ending was so fast! I am used to reading fantasy series with larger plots and higher stakes, so this was a little odd for me.
I did enjoy it though! I am glad I picked it up!
One last note, Katsa with her "I will never marry" reminded me SO MUCH of Arya Stark's "I'm not a Lady" LIKE GIRL

Graceling was the first audiobook that I ever read or more accurately, heard.
I had read this book previously, but I liked it so much the first time, that I wanted to do it all over again.
I loved every second of the audiobook. I loved how it was Full Cast Audio, so we could always know which character was speaking.
Kristin Cashore has a way with words where she can build a world completely different from our own, yet still make it believable. I found myself devouring every single second of it, just to hear more and more of the story.
I loved the main character, Katsa, because she was a great female heroine. She is the definition of a kick-ass character. I loved how she always stayed true to herself up to the end of the story.
I also really liked the romance in this book, I found that the romance was completely swoon-worthy and completely enjoyable. Seeing the way Po and Katsa's love developed was really sweet.
Even the villain in the story was great! I found I could really feel him being "evil" which is kind of the point. I don't want lame villains, which Kristin Cashore definitely didn't do.
The only aspect of the book that I didn't enjoy as much was the pacing. I felt like there was too much description. When I wanted to get to the action-y part, I was left hearing 10 minutes of the description of the forest. Other than that, I didn't find anything that made me not like the book.
Overall, Graceling is a magical book. It can reel you in and keep you there up until the very last page. If you like fantasy, and some pretty kick-ass characters, read this book.
5 stars.
