The books was good but the author felt like they were rewording a topic numerous ways. Just saying the same thing. The book definitely could have been shorter but the main story was good.
I know that Nox and Amaris are suppose to be the main love interest but it just doesn’t make sense how the story is proceeding. I’ll still read the next book though.

Thoughts on the first three books:
If you like adventurous fae, strong female leads, and fantasy, you'll probably like this series.
And I want to be clear, I *do* like this series, and I'll be reading more as they come out. It's a fun read that I blew through in a weekend. The world building is excellent.
The draw backs:
It's clear this is the author's first work. The pacing is a bit uneven, and the story could have been more tightly edited. I feel like she maybe bit off more than she could chew with a very large cast is characters who are also unevenly developed.
Importantly, I don't find the main romance/relationship between Nox and Amaris to be believable. When they left each other as children they were friends and somehow they fell in love with each other even tho they hadn't seen each other in close to a decade? It felt like it existed because the author said it did and not because it developed for the reader to see.
I also find the aggressive bisexual marketing a bit icky (as a bisexual person myself). Maybe dial it down a little or just call it LGBT? Just feels like an identity is being marketed. Which it is.

TNAIM is a friends to lovers bisexual fantasy romance. Set in a magical world, with fae and demons.
Piper Cj is a wizard with this world building, enchanting us all with angst and manifestations of secret magic.

Above all this book needed a (better) editor. Piper keeps repeating herself, seemingly tasting her way through the best way to describe something. This makes the book almost twice as long as it could've been and results in a clunky, poorly flowing book. The story is nice, the characters fine, the bi rep fun, but its world didn't grab me like I hoped it would.
Some very vague spoilers under the cuts.
They’re lesbians Harold!
But also: KFHDJKHFAKJJSDFHAS WHY WOULD YOU SET UP A GOOD BOOK WITH ABSOLUTELY NO CLIMAX?????? And hear me out, I am absolutely going to fight all of you on this, slapping a into the final pages of a book when we literally know they have to win in order for there to be a second book so you can actually tell the story is NOT a good climax.
Once again I am mad because everybody wants to commit to longwinded as hell exposition and thoughts that characters are having, and nobody wants to actually let the plot take the wheel and let shit happen in their book. Sure, Amaris got trained and discovered what her fae heritage allows her to do, and Nox had her villain phase - this is not a spoiler, you’ll see what I mean. Also as far as I can tell, Nox being a succubus is going to be a huge plot point in the next book, and honestly even without saying so I could have seen that coming from a mile away.
I just. Nothing really happened that we didn’t already know. There were no surprises (save for one, but if I tell you then it won’t be a surprise anymore) and just the entire book amounted to not a hell of a lot to be honest. Underwhelming, but I do love gay representation so I will be reading the sequel.
