Man, I hate stopping part way though. I'll usually keep going to at least find out what is happening or because I'm curious about the characters but I just... dont.
Tha romances feel so forced. Instant attraction and ex-lovers that obviously never let each other go and the tension couldn't even be described as palpable.
There were POVs from characters that were completely unnecessary, in my opinion. They seemed to exist only to force exposition on us that I would have been happy to figure out myself through a bit of "show don't tell" but apparantly I wasn't allowed to be given the chance since I only met the character twice before I learned everything there was to know about them...
There was so much repetition of certain things (yes, I get it, your sister was killed) and yet so little explanation into what the gods and god powers actually were. They 'writhe against bones and skin' but are they actually physically there? Is it just like a shadow of them? How so the powers even work? Sera just seemed to be able to do things that allowed her to be a thief, which seems a little wierd for a God.
It really sucks that I'm ranting like this because I really wanted to like this book because I was excited for the concept but it just fell so flat for me in so many ways. It's possible that I just managed to pick up a book that wasn't for me, but I needed to express this anyway.

Unfortunately a DNF for me about 50 pages in. It made me feel like I should have read another book before this one even though it’s #1 in the series.

To Cage a God is a fantasy that has everything you'll ever need, magic, twists, dragons and complex, dynamic relationships. I loved every part of this book the romance is incredibly and the worldbuilding sucks you right in. I think this is going to be a big hit for fantasy lovers and I can't wait to see what comes next.
I really feel like this needed more world building, there were more times than not that I was finding myself confused about people or places and how they connected because we really didn’t get too much of a backstory here. I was also having a difficult time with multiple names being used for the same person, sometimes in the same conversation. I’m sure this is because the characters switched back and forth between their ancient language but it was confusing at times. I did really enjoy the relationship between the sisters and the resilience of the princess, that was a great touch!
I enjoyed this story. It was an easy read. I would have liked for the dragons and magic to have more to it. This definitely read more like a romance in a fantasy setting, than a fantasy book. It had some cool fantasy elements but just didn't quite build them out enough. I wish the POVs would have been narrowed down to Galina, Sera, and Katya. I found Vitaly annoying. I like Vasi a lot but I think her story could have easily been told thru the others POV to keep thing simpler and maybe build the world more. Also, why so much emphasis on repeating everyone's full names? Overall, enjoyed this one and would recommend.

This book was very good. I didn’t know I liked books with politics and fantasy at the same time. It was very Russian- inspired and I really liked the multiple POVs. Although Vitaly seemed a bit childish to me? Vasilisa was my favourite POV.
The relationship between Galina and Sera was really heartwarming, even after all they went through.
If it was possible I would’ve rated it 3.75/5 stars ⭐️

Cool idea, but I feel like I'm not the audience for this book. The writing and the story is very YA, even if the characters are adults that talk about sex and drugs. It may be a great book for someone that enjoys YA but wants a little more spice. I'm not that reader so I ended skimming most scenes after reaching the 20% mark.
