No…. Just no.
You know they say if you don’t have anything nice to say, then keep it short. So that’s what I’m gonna do here. I’m naturally someone who doesn’t steer away from the weird, the excessive, or the uncomfortable. I took on this read, knowing that the author was not only bold, but edgy and gritty. But no amount of crazy can make up for the time I lost reading this book, hoping that it would get better.
This book explores themes of violence, wealth disparity, class structure, drug abuse, generational trauma, and most importantly INCEST. There is more incest in this book than anything else. I felt like I was at one of those museums where you’re looking at a trashcan on display but then the artist puts a fancy tag next to it. But babe, I’m still looking at trash. It just felt like the author knew this was not their best work and yet decided to ride on the coattails of the fact that they’re known for being a controversial writer.
Putting an author's note at the end to encourage you to look at chapters of violence and sodomy as a reference to the depths and effects of addiction felt like a cop out. There are way better books that push the envelope and explore these topics. This book should’ve been 150 pages at maximum.

I'm glad I'm not Chuck Palahniuk because spending just a few hours in his mind warped my brain a little. Weird, just weird.

Haiku Book Review.
I love Palahniuk.
Otto and Cecil are bad,
This book confused me.

Was wondering if the low star rating on this novel was an anomaly after starting this read. The simple answer is no.
