A simple little story with a fun friend Rabbit, who is always getting into trouble.
One of my favorite books for story time. I use it for both a spring rabbit program and a fall friendship program. 9/1/11
Got oohs today when I turned the book to show the animals all piled on top of each other. 5/12
A couple boys were very taken with the airplane, and everyone had a lot of fun identifying the animals.9/12/12
Had a boy playing with the toy school bus, so I recruited him for my PJ Story Time. I think this book held him the best.
Also used for story time and got some oohs. This is really one of my favorites to read. 4/2/13
Used for story time again and this started to get the children involved identifying the animals. 9/11/13
Used for PJ, but 2 toddlers were quite shy. However, it was a hit in story time and a mother asked to check it out. 4/19/16
Used in first Preschool Story Time and even though it was a small, shy group they answered the questions I asked about this story

Johnny and I enjoyed this one. Cool illustrations and lovely story.
This is a humorous book that's sure to leave a smile on the reader by the end of the book. Mouse had a new plane, just his size. Rabbit threw the plane very hard with mouse in it. When he threw it mouse fell out and the plane got caught high up in a tree. Mouse said that rabbit always brings trouble. Rabbit then carries back many animals of every size, stacking them upon each other from biggest to smallest. He had mouse climb on top of everyone but he fell forward knocking everyone over. They were all angry and ready to give rabbit a piece of their mind. This is where mouse comes to the rescue in his plane, carrying rabbit to safety
The simplicity and use of primary colors makes the images pop and create a happy feeling. If I were to use this in the classroom, I'd ask students to come up with a story about what mouse will do now that he's stuck in another sticky situation.

I really enjoyed Rohmann's bright and bold illustration that he used to tell this hysterical story about a rabbit trying to get a toy plane that is high up in a tree by strategically stacking animals in order to reach it. I feel that most children will be entertained by this story and the Caldecott Award winning artwork.

I laughed right out loud when I read this! I know people who are JUST LIKE Rabbit! The illustrations are so funny!
Rabbit and Mouse are best friends, but wherever Rabbit goes...trouble happens. When Rabbit loses a plane in a tree, Rabbit tries to come up with an interesting solution.
Rabbit is a great friend, full of ideas and eager to help. But whenever he does “help” everything goes wrong.
This is a delightful picture book for very young children. There are very few words, allowing the parent and child plenty of room for their imaginations to fill in the story based on Rohmann’s great illustrations. I particularly loved the pile of animals Rabbit arranged in an effort to get the airplane out of the tree!
Of course, everyone forgives Rabbit because he IS such a good and loyal friend, even if he causes more problems than he fixes.
