It's like Jun Mochizuki gathered every single thing I like and put it in one manga. No matter how many times I reread this I'll always notice something for the first time.

vanitas my pretty princess

im going to put my review for the entire series here.
i love this series so much. i initially started it because i've seen a lot of people talking about it online, and a friend of mine told me that she'd finished it and that she was waiting for its second season. when i started reading it, i immediately knew i was going to adore it, and there are many reasons for that. first of all is its unique art-style. i love the characters' designs so much, especially vanitas', and i don't think i've ever seen an anime/manga with a similar style to this, even though i've seen many anime/mangas set in a similar era. another is the character writing. i'm not done with the series yet, but from what i saw, the characters are all brilliantly written and are all quite complex people with intriguing backstories. i also really like the plot's idea, itself as i just find it so imaginative and creative. overall, i love this series so much and i think it will be one of my absolute favourite, like bungou stray dogs and yuukoku no moriarty/moriarty the patriot

2.5 stars, but I'll have to read the next volume to be sure how I feel about this. The art is nice and it doesn't seem bad so far--I actually enjoy the somewhat steampunk feel to the setting, and it being set in Belle Epoque France rather than Victorian England for once--but certain aspects seem a little similar to other series I've read (D Gray Man, for one--which I loved, so I would hate to see it imitated), and I'm slightly annoyed by the protagonist's cat, who so far seems to only be there as a prop ("Look! Fluffy! Like me!"). I'm interested to see if/how Vanitas distinguishes itself from other vampire manga.

yeeeeees to more vampires! ♡

Giving this another go! I'm not sure what to make of Vanitas. Noé seems like the sweet, pure at heart type (opposite of Vanitas). The worldbuilding and vampire lore is interesting!
