Kept me on the edge of my seat, I read this book in a little over a day. The only thing I hated was the fact that their recovery time seemed so short when in reality they would have been in the hospital for a very long time.

Brown is an awful writer but a great storyteller. His characters are one-dimensional stereotypes, his dialogue is pedantic, and his sentence structure is, well, lame. But it's his plots that suck me in. Brown can weave a damn good tale. Deception Point reminds me of Crichton's novels, except I think Crichton was more talented as a writer.

You know those books you read on the beach when you have nothing to do and then you wish you had those five hours of your life back so you could have napped instead? This book is like that.

Started strong but became conventional towards the end. But the storyline moved well.

dan brown writes women like every man who's never known a real woman and has only acknowledged their existences as accessories to men's lives and their stories

because all of his female characters are riddled with sexist, misogynistic stereotypes, but he thinks he's doing them a favour when he calls them smart and strong.

he introduces his female characters in a very they're-not-like-other-girls-except-they're-worse-and-two-dimensional type of way which goes like-

1. this one's hot and smart

2. this one also, is hot and smart

3. this one is torture to the eyes and smart, but i will keep bringing up just how ugly she is every 3 lines in case you forget

4. this one is also ugly and smart, but she looks at the handsome man and goes googoogaagaa and doesn't like other women because she's a stereotype of a woman and also dies pretty soon

5. this one's a 2 dimensional perfect woman whose only defining trait is selflessly supporting her husband but bam, she's also dead

6. dead perfect woman no.2 who is only there to explain a specific man's behavioral issues

and they're all accessories that are simply there for the man's character arc and hold no true personality beyond smart/hot/ugly and not to forget, it's only the supposedly ugly women that are also unappealing personality-wise.

another strong contender in reasons why i predominantly read books written by women.
