There were so many parts where I was moved to tears or outrage! Extremely well written. I really felt for the characters! Can't wait to read more by Hosseini!

Definitely one of the sadder books I have ever read. While The Kite Runner had a little more "action" to it, particularly at the end, A Thousand Splendid Suns functions much more as a meditation of how the war-torn region of Kabul affected real people and how their lives changed. Some parts were honestly so traumatic and I often wondered how things could get worse before they inevitably did. But in a good way, if that makes sense. The author's writing is also just so beautiful--as if I was reading poetry while reading his prose.
