“We were too young, but for the record, I’m pretty sure I damn near loved you, too.”
Corey and Hayley have been friends for years, but it was always a brothers best friend/brothers little sister relationship. We get their history between flashbacks and see how they ended up not talking anymore.
New Whitney G. books make me so freakin' happy! And I like the best friend's forbidden sister trope. Sadly, I didn't love this one as much as I hoped that I would.
I really couldn't get myself to really like Haley. She had everything handed to her by her brother. And I mean everything, house, car, job, etc. The girl had no work ethic or really even needed one. It just seemed really unrealistic and made it hard to connect with her character.
I thought that Corey was great. I liked him soo much better than Haley. It felt like he had way more to lose than Haley did with them being in a relationship. My only issue was that he didn't fight for her against Johnathan.
The ending seemed a little rushed, but overall the story was just okay. I didn't hate it but I sure didn't love it.

I love Whitney G’s books! They are usually quick reads, arrogant alpha males, typical formula; but it works for her. While the formula was present in this book, I found the heroine to be REALLY REALLY annoying. Despite this being a 20+ year old woman, she came across like an teenager. Corey was like-able, charming. And for the life of me, I couldn’t see why he wanted Haley.
At the beginning she seemed motivated, but after her brother saved her. You would think this go getter of a woman could manage her feelings and do her job. But she seemed to spit in his face by being late, not doing her job, and acting like a teenager with her non-best friend. She was just childish. Which ruined the romance part of the story for me.
Overall this was a decent, quick read.

I liked this book but at the same time felt it was missing a lot. It was more of a tell not show, so you missed the feeling. Like the author would say all this tension and whatnot happened, but you barely ever actually got to be a part of it. And then the ending felt far too rushed. Not to mention it was entirely too predictable of a plot.
Trope: El mejor amigo de mi hermano.
Buen desarrollo de la historia y es un romance medio soft, corto y con momento bonitos.

“Hayley?” he whispered.
“Yeah?” I kept my eyes shut.
“I’m going to send you an email tomorrow, and I’m going to tell you exactly what happened between us tonight.”
“Um hmmm.” I was dozing off.
“It’s going to be short and to the point, and I’m going to send it to protect the both of us.” He paused. “But if by chance you remember what I’m about to say—because I can’t believe I’m about to say this shit and I swear I’ll deny it... You’re honestly the only girl I’ve ever cared about, and I know it’s been years and we’ve grown in different ways, but I never stopped caring about you. And if you want to try us now, and get to know each other again, I wouldn’t say not right now. I would say yes.”
this was so cute and i enjoyed it a lot. it’s exactly what i needed and i’m happy i picked it up.
