Over Us, Over You

This was a fairly average read for the most part, and I was beginning to wonder what all the other reviewers had been all about, until the two started dating. Hailey really did come across as a bit of a too stupid to live heroine, and I didn't particularly live love Cory either.

Overall, I must agree, this was overall a meh read and not quite what I expected to be reading from Whitney G. Most of her books have always been super enjoyable, but this kinda falls flat.

I've been impatiently waiting the release of Over Us, Over You and I must say it was worth the wait. It sucked me in from page one and didn't let me go until the end. I loved the banter between Corey and Hayley and watching their relationship unfold and blossom. I will admit Corey was a bit of an ass but this author has a way of making like characters that I really shouldn't find endearing at all yet I do. I definitely recommend it.

I always wanted to know the story of Cory and Hayley and somehow I missed that this novella was their story! Facepalm moment. I read the Mid-Life Love series some time ago and always wondered about these two. A fun and sweet story about two people who were long overdue to connect, two people who weren't right for each other when they met, but grew into the people they needed to be to be together. I love Johnathan in this one too of course. He is just simply SO over the top it makes you laugh in exasperation.

3.5 I love Whitney G books but I didn't enjoy this one as much as her previous books.

Super quick read for those looking for something light. An ad for the book came across my Facebook and the little snippet was enough for me to want to give it a shot.

I do read a lot of contemporary romance, so for me this was alright. There were parts of the story’s foundation that just didn’t vibe with me, like Hayley using her college money to open a coffee and wine bar and NOT telling her brother (who gave her the money in the first place) about it. I get the need for independence and not relying on her brother’s name and business, but using thousands of dollars of his money secretly? Come on.

However, I did actually really enjoy the banter between her and Carter. I’m all for sexual tension build up, and I like how the author chose to do that with their emails back and forth, from disdain to friendship to teasing. The characters were both confused on how to handle the situation, which made it more realistic.

What I would have loved: honestly, raunchier sex scenes! Yes, it’s contemporary romance, but Carter talks a lot about how he likes it rough, and I wish Whitney G. would have done a little bit more with that (and maybe added more sex scenes in general!). Go big or go home.

The climax of the book was just okay- it’s exactly what I thought it was going to be based on Hayley’s relationship with her brother as well as her brother’s relationship with Carter. Nothing groundbreaking in the climax as well as the resolution, but I could appreciate it for what it was.

Basically, I’d recommend this for an easy beach read, but not if you’re looking for a love story to give you all the feels

This book desperately needed to be longer so that the characters could get some much needed development. The heroine was so immature and just plain stupid, the hero didn't do it for me either. I really liked the flashbacks, though.
