Harmartia - Scarlett Drake
Where to start? I LOVE LOVE LOVED this book, the characterisation is 10/10 and that’s so important to me. The boys and their emotions a felt real.
Scarlett wrote a truly beautiful love story!
Rapha is our sweet Himbo rockstar and Jae is air graceful delicate idol and they are both SIMPS.
And an extra 25 points for Shiro

This book is way too long to be what it is.
Cheating? Now that's a trope I can get behind if it's done well
And here?
It wasn't. At all.
Like I could have gotten behind all of this if they ended the engagement because at this point, the girlfriend knows he's seeing someone else and she's just waiting around for him to fucking TALK. TO. HER. And what does he do? Avoids her. At all costs. I'm sorry.... WHAT?
You are a grown ass man obsessing over another dude on another CONTINENT who has a fiancée at home just waiting for you to get your shit together and you just can't even do that? Ok.
Honestly, idk why she isn't dropping this asshole suing him for all he's worth because they are publicly broken up and I literally NEVER see a conversation mentioned. HOW OLD IS THIS MAN.
BUT THEN.
BUT. THEN.
90% is where shit all goes down. Because of course it does. If this book wasn't already OTT and fucking annoying, we find out the girl is pregnant. BEcAuSe Of CoUrSe ShE iS. She hasn't dealt with enough shit already, NoOoOOooOoooOOO.
If I could rate this zero stars I would. I honestly would. There was way too much shit in this book for absolutely nothing happening. This book was boring and I'm so sad because it came so highly recommended because honestly? Both men in this book suck and are horrible people and apparently give zero fucks on if their actions hurt other people. Again, I can totally get behind the cheating trope if its done well (coughcoughthegoodliarcoughcough) but this was just a trash heap on fucking fire.

I really wanted to love this, but I didn't like not seeing the relationship from both sides. We get a grand total of 4 chapters from Jaehyun and we don't really see his feelings or emotions until his final chapter. It felt really one-sided, and I struggled to see how Raphael could be so in love with someone who came across as very cold.
The whole conflict at the end with Cam really irked me, and it's my least favourite trope in books. I also felt like the ending wasn't wrapped up well; what happened to the band? How did he and Mason patch things up? Honestly, it felt rushed and I would have liked to see things play out a little longer after they made up at the pier, before moving to the epilogue.
The writing however was good. It just wasn't my favourite MM romance that I have read.

There’s some books you read that when you put them down to go do something else for a while, you can’t stop thinking about them.
That was this book for me. And I am so happy that this book did not make Camille turn out to be this monster, some woman that could easily be dismissed after Raphael found his ‘true love’. All the characters felt so real and human in their reactions. And the epilogue was absolutely adorable, well deserved I feel.
I don’t think this story will be for everyone but for me it hit in all the right places❤️❤️❤️
I’ll definitely be reading from Scarlett Drake again—and I can finally order the special edition cover which was honestly the whole reason I wanted to read this book in the first place, haha.
