I received an ARC Copy of this book, this review is from my own thought

I really enjoyed this story. The author did an amazing job of portraying how desperate and all consuming an obsession can be, and it kept me hooked! I felt like avoiding all my responsibilities so I could find out what happened next. My only small complaint is that the MC was supposed to be an American music star, but it was a bit obvious the author wasn't American. Some of the slang and phrases were clearly not things American's say, and sometimes the words were right, but just not the way American's say them. I wish she had made Rafael a British pop star instead of an American one - it wasn't terrible, but did pull me out of the story every so often. I was also super distracted by the constant use of the word "gonna." But these little nitpicks weren't enough to change my rating of 5 stars.

This is now one of my all-time favorite books. I enjoyed it so much that I didn't want it to end, often taking breaks to savor it. Raphael and Jae are incredibly lovable, and their love story is sweet and cozyβ€”I can't get enough of it! In fact, all the side characters are great too, I loved every single one of them (Camille, what a great women! 😍). This will be my go-to "feel good" book for future rereads. ❀️ I pray to the universe that there will be more in the future to read of themπŸ™πŸ½πŸ˜‚πŸ«ΆπŸ½

I finally re-visted my loves this year with the audio releasing. I didn't think I could fall for these two more then I already had.. I WAS WRONG 😭 The audiobook is perfect. Below is my original review. I'm glad my love held strong almost a year later πŸ₯²πŸ–€

Jaebug & Raphy πŸ˜πŸ–€

These two broke my heart, stressed me out, had me crying, then repaired my soul by the last word. Rapha sucked me in from that interview in the beginning and just never let me go. He is so awkward and obsessed with our man, but honestly, if you dont act a fool over Jaebug, then get tf out.

Jaehyun, MY BEST BOY! Im claiming him, Scarlett. You can pry that precious bean out of my cold, dead hands. He deserves all the happiness he could ever dream of. Which he receives in Rapha. The way they love each other is soul reaching and was beautiful to see.

I am absolutely in love with these two. Im never letting them go. They gave me a damn scare at that part (Scar knows exactly what im talking about *side eye*), and my damn stomach fell into my ass. She didn't do me wrong, though, so everything is all good ! Also, that line at the end with a little someone, BAWLING I TELL YOU!  β€œJae-un!! ****, it’s Jae-un!!” IM UNHINGED!

Immediately pick this up. Give my darlings the love they deserve - this may or may not be a threat πŸ˜‡

I have mixed feelings about this book because while I did really like the story, I also think there were some red flags that I just can't ignore and that definitely took away from not only my enjoyment of the book but also my rating. First of all, I HATED the way Raphael not only cheated on his fiancee, but also tried to use being possibly bi/gay as an excuse to say it basically "doesn't count". It doesn't matter of you're exploring your sexuality; YOU STILL CHEATED. He knew for months (actually, years if we're being honest) that he really wanted Jae and wasn't in love with Camille anymore, and yet still carried on and planned the wedding and was full on going to marry her, despite his reservations and his feelings for someone else. THEN, he goes so far as to lie to her, plan a weekend with Jae, lie to her and not answer her calls and just ignore her. Um, absolutely not. I supposed if you can get past the cheating, then maybe it's a lot better? I don't know. Also, he said a REALLY homphobic thing to Jae upon meeting him, and to me, that would have been unforgivable and you would have never seen me again. However, Jae just accepts Raphael's apology and they enter into a relationship. It was also evident that Raphael's feelings were based MAINLY on lust and desire and obssession, rather than liking Jae as a PERSON. He constantly talked about his looks, how hot and sexy he was and VERY little about him liking Jae as an actual human being. I never really felt he did, and that it was largely based on his obssession to fuck this man, rather than actually love this man. And finally, throwing in a surprise pregnancy just to cause conflict and the means for a third act breakup was just out of left field and so stupid and unnecessary. Anyway, I did like Jae so much; he was adorable and earnest and truly cared for Raphael. I liked how the eventually navigated Raphael's sexuality, everyone's support and how they ended in the epilogue.

THIS BOOK!!! I was hooked from page one, I literally couldn’t stop reading and I was really close to ask for days off from work to keep reading all day. Listen, IT IS SOOOO GOOD!!!

Honestly, if a book is about popstars, rockstars or famous people in general, I won’t read it. For some reason, Hamartia still intrigued me and I really wanted to read it. And what a great idea I had, I think I was in the right mood for it!

Raphael is an American rockstar who develops an obsession towards Jaehyun, a K-pop idol after they meet once in Paris. They will meet again a few years later thanks to a common friend and this time, the attraction is mutual.

The evolution of Rapha and Jae’s relationship is fascinating because these two are radically different. Their connection is strong when they’re together but the cultural differences and the long distance can be hard sometimes. They’re still very intense together, especially Raphael. As he said himself, Jae has been life-changing for him because he never questioned his sexuality before so his attraction to this man is something very important and impactful for him, especially because his feelings are deep and all-consuming. His obsession never faded but it became healthy and sincere, he knows Jaehyun now and he loves him for who he really is, not his perfect, clinical K-pop image. He still worships the ground Jae walks on though, he can’t get enough of his man. These two are just an evidence, I never had the slightest doubt about what their future would entail.

The epilogue was the cherry on top. I’m just so happy that Raphael was able to overcome his father’s mistakes and have the beautiful, fulfilling life he deserved.

It was a great read and I loved every second of it. Maybe I’ll try to read more rockstars books in the future, they’re not that bad after all! Or maybe Scarlett Drake is a magician, or it could be both.
