Really I would give it 3.5 stars. It took me quite a while to get through. The parts that were good, were really good. The rest was a bit tedious at times. Worth the read though.
Well written, personal, thoughtful and painful reflection on the 2016 election. Although I followed the campaign, I was hungry to know the details of the policies she laid out that never got traction in the press.

A few thoughts:
1. Because Russia got away with 2016, it opened the floodgates for this stuff moving forward. And they're aligned 100% with Republicans at least for now - actually not even Republicans, just billionaires. Which is the worst case scenario.
2. Our political press and news media is woefully prepared for their role, and in its current form, is a threat to democracy.
3. Finally, white people need to reckon with why they're willing to give up on democracy to punish non white people. And Latinos and Asians need to grapple with why they're willing to align with white people and if they're getting the bargain they think they're getting.
Until we right the wrong of an actual attack on America, we’ll continue to be in the current Civil War we’re in - and that’s what it is, a Civil War. Though it may not be violent yet, it is already here.

Hillary Clinton’s loss in the 2016 election came as a shock to many. Some of the answers as to what happened are still being determined, but from Clinton’s perspective, many unprecedented events contributed to her loss. These include an out-of-control FBI director, coordinated Russian hackers and a few mistakes of her own that Clinton deeply regrets.
I'm going to have to let this one sit for a while before I can write a quality review, but let me just say, get out your tissue box if you pick this one up. There are sad tears of course, but also happy and hopefuly ones.
Parts were hard to relive, but I appreciate the candor with which she grappled with her own mistakes, and those influences that were outside of her control. A strong, brilliant, capable woman - one who history will remember well. Godspeed, Secretary Clinton. Thank you.
I read and listened to the audio version of this book and loved it. The history or back story leading today for HRC really helped me see her in a deeper light. I was laughing in one minute and in tears the next. I had to stop listening before class because it really did bring out emotions.
Contrary to the media frenzy that surrounded this book it is not a "blame everyone but myself" book. Anyone who tells you otherwise only read excerpts and not context. It's a memoir. But it's more than that. It is a book that should be read by every Democratic candidate for President from now on. It is a book filled with teachable moments. It's a book filled with regrets. But in the end it's a book of hope. Hope that the events that turned into this awful black swan of an election result won't be repeated. Hope that we can undo the damage done in the coming years and continue trying to make the USA a "more perfect union".
I'm glad she wrote it even though it was extremely hard to get past some sections without an intense anger/sadness cycle.
