It was a great read featuring a found family. I liked the magic system (it was unique). It was just a little slow going in the beginning, but it picked up toward the middle. I'm looking forward to seeing how the duology wraps up.

This one drew me in quickly wanting to know what happens to Bri after her family are killed and she is rescued by people unknown to her. They reveal many truths that she had not known and become a second family to her. The story moves very quickly and I couldn't put it down! Looking forward to book 2!

The Blameless is a Middle Grade/Young Adult High Fantasy novel book 1 in this series.

Book Cover: 4* - So really quick, the version I have was from a book box, so it has a slightly different cover than what can be bought online or in stores. The characters are all on the cover, but instead of a blue backdrop, mine has purple on it. It's pretty and the characters look gorgeous and exactly what I pictured when reading this to the fam lol.

Summary/Tagline: 4* - After reading the synopsis it got me curious enough to pick up this book and read it to the fam. The Blameless, who attacked Briana's home, and see what this book has in store for her. So, let's jump right in.

Characters: 5* - We follow mostly Princess Briana with few moments throughout this book where we end up following the tyrant who killed her family(not a spoiler as it was stated in the first 3 chapters) and a friend Briana makes roughly halfway into this book. I thought Briana was adorable and to me, really acts like a kid who likes pretty dresses and casual clothing for just various kinds of training. She's not at all spoiled and very humble. Even her interactions with her 3 protectors, Flinton, Derek, and Kove, I found myself just grinning and laughing, they were just so cute and freaking wholesome. I want more of these kinds of interactions in books, don't care the category, just more please lol. Ooh and the Tyrant(I forgot his name), hate him. No, seriously, there's nothing redeemable about him, so I'm TOTALLY ready for Briana to stomp him to the ground as this series progresses. So yeah, love these characters lol.

World Building: 3* - The setting was very high fantasy medieval England esque, but diverse in a minor way. I found the world building simple and the magic system intriguing. I liked it and so did the fam. I'm really curious to see what else we could learn of the magic later in this series.

Story: 3* - Alrighty, so the story is pretty slow paced in my opinion. Not much happens in most of the book, and when the action does start, it is pretty short lived, but here we go. We start the book off following Briana running through the city of her kingdom. Her family was attacked, her mother demanding she run, and after being found and rescued by Flinton, she does end up learning that her family was very much dead, and she has magic within her. Briana learns about the Blameless and trains to further hone her magic, learning about the people who saved her and helping her move past the grief of losing her family, but after she was kidnapped from the safety of her new home, she vows to stop the man who took everything from her and save her kingdom from his tyrannical rule. I found the story pretty simple, but pretty slow paced. The characters is what helped me get through the book, but the fam was struggling there for a while. By this point, I definitely want to keep reading this series just to see Briana, a 13 year old kid, kick the Tyrant's a**.

Over All: 4* - Despite the story being simple and slower paced than what we were expecting, we did find the characters wholly likable and wholesome. The villain was outright vile and we very much are looking forward to Briana kicking his butt throughout the series. I think kids over the age of 12 will probably enjoy this high fantasy story, in fact, I think I would definitely recommend this to first time fantasy readers in general. Anyway, the fam and I look forward to reading the next book in this series. Let's see what will happen to Briana in the next part of her journey.

This book was a happy surprise, thank you to the author for sending this book to me to read...

If you're looking for a middle grade fantasy series with light Christian themes, this is it. Filled with intense action but also filled with a lot of heart and humor. I especially loved the characters of the three "Uncles". The banter and love they had for princess Brie was so sweet and wonderful. I can't wait to read the sequel.

Princess Brie finds herself on the run for her life, her family is gone and she has nowhere to turn. Soldiers are on the hunt for her. Until a mysterious stranger and his friends find her and take her to a mysterious land where she finds out she is "gifted". Will she be able to claim back her throne and defeat the bad guys?

Review to come soon. LOVED this Middle Grade Fantasy debut

The Blameless is a really charming and brilliant read. The magic system is unique and fun to read about. I loved following Brie throughout the story and I really liked how she grew more confident in herself and learned to make hard choices for her kingdom. I really like how Brie discovered so much about who she is as a person separate from the sheltered life she led as a child. This book has a really warm and good atmosphere about it while still dealing with some pretty dark stuff. The characters in the beginning may seem like your typical hero or villain but as you delve into the story more is revealed and they show themselves to be quite complex especially the villain.
